Well, this is something to wake up to. I like this deal for the Panthers, though I see where the Canes are trying to shore things up as well.

0:40 the second one
Florida won imo, added a lot of depth
Did we all forget Trocheck dropped 70+ points 2 years ago? He can be a nice x factor for the canes
IMO Trocheck is the best player in this deal on both sides but Panthers receive the better return.
don't you think if Florida is giving up their second line centre then they should've at least gotten a defenseman, especially from carolina
Go Cats!
Vegas also should be getting a 5th round pick in 2021 after trading him for a player
I thought Wallmark was going to retire a Cane, he just seemed like the type of player that plays 1500 games for one team.
Canes really do want the leafs to not make the playoffs LMAO
If you look at only the players involved, then Florida won the trade. Looking at the trade from the Canes perspective, however, they were healthy scratching a forward every night, Wallmark was only getting about 10 mins a game, and Haula was not consistently producing. The Canes need a center who can give them more consistent offense, and while it hurts a lot to lose Wallmark, his contract was set to expire this year and Wallmark was probably looking for a pay raise because he has been payed peanuts his whole career. Haula was probably going to be gone in free agency after this year, meaning Necas or a more expensive Wallmark was going to be the 3rd line center of the future. If Trocheck is an upgrade from Haula, then the Hurricanes are a better team because Martinook can fill the role that Wallmark had on the 4th line and Dzingel can slide into Wallmark's spot in PP2. Trocheck is also a righty, and Necas is the only right handed forward other than Williams on roster. Luostarinen is a good prospect, but he was only potentially looking at a 3rd or 4th line role on the team next year, and the Canes are probably a better team next year too with Aho/Staal/Trocheck/Martinook as their centers than they would be with Aho/Staal/Wallmark/Luostarinen or any of the other variants they could have assembled with their previous players. Losing a RHD talent like Priskie also sucks, but the Canes still have plenty of depth and flexibility defensively moving forward (ignoring the Pesce and Hamilton injuries). If Priskie turns out to be a great player, then that would hurt even more for the Canes, but that is the risk they were willing to take to try to upgrade their roster. This is already long enough so I will leave it at that. I just wanted to offer some perspective from the Canes point of view because if you only look at the players involved, without considering contracts and other circumstances, it looks like a bad deal, but this still could be a good deal for the Canes as long as Trocheck plays well for them.
As a panther fan I'll dearly miss troch. He was the heart of the team a d wanted them to succeed. Hes had a rough year and he knows it. I wish him the best with the canes and hope the cats get going and maybe meet in the playoffs. Tiny tiny chance that happens
To the person i debated abput a week ago on wether trocek would get moved or not, you were right! 😂 never thought theyd move trocek unless it blew them away and this deal is pretty much that lol
Good trade for Florida.
I like Vinnie, he’s from Pittsburgh so it would’ve been cool to see him on the Pens but considering what Carolina gave up, I’m more than happy with Patty Marleau for a 3rd round pick and a cap hit of 700k
Highway robbery for the Panthers, wow. That's a nice package of players. Instant depth for Florida's lineup.
I think if the Canes gave just Priskie, Haula, and Eetu, then they win the trade but Wallmark wasn't needed in this trade and will hurt in the long run
If the Canes make it to the conference final, they win the deal. If not, Florida.
As a canes fan I think the real gem Florida is getting here is Wallmark and Possibly Loustarinen. Priskie is 24 years old so you know his time of possibly becoming an NHLer or not is near, and Haula to me hasn't been the same guy after his injury this season.
This Caniac isn't too impressed with this trade. Haula I understand, especially with his knee, but I really like Wallmark. Getting Skeji and Vatanen eases the pain somewhat.
At first it might look like canes got fleeced, but the more you study this trade, the more you understand its not as bad as it looks…
My Panthers may have won the trade but WE NEED DEFENSE THAT CAN PLAY NOW.
now florida gives barkov and dadonov to canes to even things out now that would sound good.A man can dream cant he?
For all those people that are think why the fuck would the panthers trade Trocheck have never watched panther games the guy has regressed significantly, he’s a shadow of what he once was.
theres talk that vatanen is leaving jersey pretty surely for the canes now that would be a big boost for the canes seems it happened jesus christ the canes d line is propaby the best in the league by a lot
The hurricanes are dangerous
I love this trade as a panther fan. Haula and wallmark rn provide more than trocheck was. They will fit right in, and help to spark the middle 6
I think Carolina overpaid unless Trocheck can get back to 75-point form. Florida won.
I really think that Florida lost this trade… losing a second line centre in this day and age is painful.
i think carolina wins by far. wallmark is meh, haula is pending ufa.
I heard yesterday from VGK live coverage that Vegas got a 4th round pick back because they traded Huala, which would have essentially made the Stephenson trade from the Caps earlier a freebie, can anyone else confirm this?
I dont see Trocheck doing any better in Carolina than Florida. ….He did have that one good year where I think he OVERachieved…. when you can get rid of a future headache for multiple pieces, that team is typically the trade winner. I dont see anything different here
But you forgot that Haula was a pending UFA
Huge fan and subscriber! Nothing but respect for the hardest working hockey analyst of all time! Florida is playing some amazing hockey this year, that being said.. HOLY EKOW!! Trocheck has been playing ELITE level hockey for the canes and to emphasize his production has been dropping nukes on his former team all season long. Fair to say the Canes weren’t nuts for this trade… Brass Bonanza starts playing
this was such a great move by the Canes lmao
