All three of Liam O’Brien’s penalty saves from the Checkatrade Trophy shootout with Reading U23s, including reaction from the Pompey goalkeeper.
The Blues drew 2-2 with the youthful Royals side in normal time, gaining a point in group nine.
But in the subsequent penalty shootout – to determine which side earned an extra bonus point – it was Reading U23s who were victorious, as they triumphed 4-3 from the spot.
O’Brien may have made three successive saves in the shootout, but it still wasn’t enough for the Blues, who sit bottom of the Southern Group A.
