The Panthers took advantage of a bevy of Hurricanes mistakes and humiliated Carolina in Game 2. Andrei Svechnikov turned the puck over 3 times in the 1st period. The first directly led to a Gustav Forsling goal just 77 seconds into the game. Florida led the game 3-0 before the first intermission and the Canes never really threatened. Sebastian Aho did have a goal called back for the play being offside early in the 2nd period, but Carolina never really threatened to score after that and Florida are two home wins away from reaching their third straight Stanley Cup Finals.

It's like Svechnikov, Slavin, and Ghostisbeher are the only players who showed up. Idk why Kochetkov wasn't put in during game 1 and didn't start tonight. Idk why Morrow was played again when he's not ready and Nikishin played better. Idk why KK was benched for Jankowski when we need both of their size and defensive ability, Roslovic is good but he should have been the odd man out. Just overall, idk what they were doing
The Hurricanes ARE a better team than this.
The Hurricanes can beat the Panthers. They just need to show up. Tonight it was like this game only matter to a few of the players.
They need net-front presence. They need to stop just sloppily losing pucks for no reason. They need to start shooting the puck and being somewhere to pickup the rebound. They didn't play Hurricanes hockey tonight

I love our guys. But we have no alphas in the room. We have no ādawgsā in the room. We have highly skilled players who are passive and not mentally tough. We have no Tkachuk, Bennett, evander Kane, Pat Maroon, etc. we are great but we are soft as toilet paper.
No star for pyotr? He shut things down in the third and the goal from barkov redirect in front was impossible for any goalie to stop. Freddie and about 2/3 of the team let this fan base down tonight. What a joke. I felt pretty sick watching how our coaching staff has no ability to adapt.
I've seen the canes play well, and I've seen them play poorly…. but I've never seen them play as bad as this. What a disgusting display. They are beaten before they ever take the ice. They have zero belief they can win.

Personally I think he has a personal issue thatās being covered up.
I ate a little crow when he started playing very solid hockey when the playoffs started.

Thereās definitely a mental side to this. I think thatās why the Canes are trying to be more physical instead of playing their game. Thatās why theyāre making unwarranted passes instead of getting the puck on net. Weāve seen this story before with special teams and goaltending falling apart and goal scoring drying up. I think Florida has the better players and the better team, but better teams lose all the time. If Carolina is going to come back theyāll have to show us a level of mental toughness we havenāt seen from them.
Rod brindamour is a huge disgrace and disappointment to this team and organization. No one on the team seem to care at all. Call me out if you want but Iām just very passionate fan of this team and want to see them go all the way but going into the ECF like this is a just a disappointment

Svech did Svech things. Took a dumb, selfish penalty. Lazy with the puck. Got manhandled. He just chose to do all of it in a very concentrated period of time.
Bottom line the Panthers top six is far superior to both the Canes top six and the Canes shutdown line of Martinook, Staal, & Carrier. I've said it all year that the Canes roster as currently constructed had very little chance for success in the ECFs & SCFs because they remain dreadfully weak up the middle at Center. Aho is at best a 2C as at 180 lbs as he's far too diminutive to match-up vs the elite NHL Centers. And Roslovic is just another Winger that's ill suited to slot at 2C. Jesperi Kotkaniemi remains a $45m dollar dumpster fire at either 2C or 4C and has gone 29 consecutive playoff games without a goal. So the Canes have absolutely no answers vs the likes of Barkov, Bennett, Lundell, & Nosek up the middle at Center and until that changes their fourteen game ECF losing streak will more than likely reach sixteen consecutive ECF losses on Monday evening, May 26. The Canes roster is built to ensure that Season Ticket Memberships are sold enmass & the franchise achieves a palatable amount of regular season success in the Metro Division and nothing more.

I was really hoping for Carolina to win this series. Two games in, and it feels borederline unimaginable that they will. Carolina has no answers.
