Refs must've been paying their friends to bet on the other team and got a little upset. The misconduct for fighting is how hockey works when you decide to fire a puck at somebody dangerously. The fight is the equalizer, a misconduct is ridiculous and only ensure players are infuriated and bring the anger out next game.
I hate Marchand, but he got hosed on this one. He barely nicked Gostisbehere along the boards, then got the puck shot at him. If anyone deserved the misconduct it was Gostisbehere.
Well deserved, he went in trying to cross check Goth in the teeth and then started fighting him before he could get his gloves off. You're up 4-1 and you try to take a run at the other team, you deserve whatever karma you get.
Gostisbehere should be booted out of the league for that. He intentionally tried to harm another player ! Horrible act from a pro player…He needs the boot from the NHL!!!
I came hear with my dander up figuring I'd have to defend Marchand against all the haters, having seen the game & because I've watched Marchy play since he was a rookie. I fully expected everyone to be doing what they did for years, just automatically rag on Marchand because of his early years of playing & because he's Marchand. Finally people see what's beyond the early Marchy years.
And btw, I absolutely loved how the Panthers defended Marchy & kept after Gostisbehere for the rest of the night. For a while there it looked to me like he was the kid that all the other kids wouldn't play with.
Game misconduct came from jumping him AND the forearm shiver he gave ghost on the ice, slamming his head onto the ice. Idk how anyone is confused by this
