As someone who lives in Calgary, I never liked Treliving he was there for 10+ years, not much happened. Let Gaudreau walk for nothing, similar to the Marner situation. Which in turn caused Matthew Tkachuk to want to be traded as well. Left the team in ruins. Good luck on that front leafs.

Sports media is always looking for something controversial. Asking Ludacris questions, not letting go.. how about, for ! year, no media around players or coach (Leafs), see what happens.. media going onto the bench during a game, asking questions from the coach,, nuts… it's about the party.
I think the mistake Shanny made was building from the offence instead of from the net out which is the traditional i route when rebuilding .They took the best player available to them in each draft ( Nyladner in 2014 Marner in 2015 and Matthews in 2016 ) which is the correct thing to do .However he tried to build this offensive powerhouse and neglected the blue line ( and goal )_ for years and thought they would be able to outscore the opposition in the playoffs ,When they signed Tavares I was one of the people that said that either Marner or Nylander should be sacrificed for a top pairing stud D man .Whether or not that would have got them over the top is up in the air but I beleive that would have been the logical move at the time

Shanahan was the problem? The Leafs have been losing since 1967. It is very hard to win a championship in any professional sport. Many of the criticisms of the TML’s as they are today are legitimate. That said, this same team, could possibly win the Stanley Cup next year. It’s more likely than not but, I think people are taking this way too seriously.

Seriously, why does kyper blow so much smoke up Marners asz. The guy can't be objective. Core 4 this core 4 that blame willy blame matthews but when it comes to marners woes, its anything but the individual. Even an injured matthews with a messed up back had more impact with a game winner in a knockout game. Willy was lights out first round. JT held his own for his age. It was marner who did nothing but soft little fluff points in games where they were already winning or getting apples on plays he really had nothing to do with
What difference does it make. What team they ice? The seats will be filled, and the team will make the most money in the league. Curse of Ballard.
I find all this completely ridiculous. This Leafs team is a dam good team. They finished fifth in the whole league and are probably the third or fourth best team. Go ask the Florida players. I know two of them and they will tell you that a few more bounces Toronto's way and this series would have gone their way. This is a good team. Keep adding to it. Unfortunately the best team in hockey is also in our division. No one else will take Florida to seven games. I agree those other teams werent good. But this Leaf team is. Yeah we lost. But we lost to the best and we scared them. Thats all you ask for other than winning. You are going to destroy this team until we are missing the playoffs every year again. BACK OFF!!!!
The problem with the Leafs is having 3 players Matthew's Marner and Nylander same kind of players making so much. If those 3 were different it would have been better. One or two should have been traded years ago it is overkill in one area

The problem was not the core four, it was the lazy and sloppy elder statesman: Rielly. The unaccountable Rielly! The low hockey I.Q, Rielly. The Leafs desperately needed/need a puck moving, play driving Defenceman and none of you in your Ivory towers could see it. No, blame Marner. No Marner, no more high scoring for Matthews. No Marner, no playoffs.

I'm 59 and the loafs have been a punchline for my entire life lol! This clownshow team has never won a 3rd round (haven't even made the 3rd round in 23 years) and has never played a game in June. COMPLETE CLOWNSHOW! They should change their name to FAILURE INC.
I feel about Shannahan same way I feel about Yzerman. Either president's plans haven't worked out even closely. And both have tried several coaches, GM's and assistant coaches in there. It's not them, it's your stubbornness to let Marners no move kick in. And other not that great decisions.

Shanahan did an okay job, but didn't learn from his failures. The team never evolved in a meaningful way beyond the core four. He refused to make the hard choices that were needed.
