  1. Love ya Steve. But I'll always disagree with you about why Dubas was fired. He didn't get fired because he wanted to trade Marner. He got fired because he told his boss (Shanahan) that he wanted HIS job* (he wanted to have full control of the team and make Shanahan's position redundant). Of all the dumb ways to make a power move, you don't go to the guy you're trying to replace. You expect him to hand you the knife to take him out with?! Go to HIS boss to do that. For all the Dubas talk about him being so brilliant, he made some boneheaded moves.
That being said, Brendan still has to wear his boneheaded moves off sticking with the core and it's time to walk away from Shanahan too.

  2. Best thing that could happen to the Leafs. Shanahan is a horrible person. He wrecked the Blues in the mid 90s. Not a leader.

  3. Typical “woke “ MLSE. They should have fired him after game 7 . Look. The man did not get the job done. He had to go. Why are me stroking the ego a of the ones we fire for incompetence? . Ballard would have NEVER let it get this far.

  4. There’s no compassion in the Toronto Maple Leafs. They just keep losing and losing and losing. They will never win a Stanley Cup. I hope Canadian team will win the Stanley Cup sometime in my lifetime but it sure will be you Toronto.

  5. Constant appearances in the playoffs is so horrible….. The fucking problem is playing in a crypt. Real, LOUD fans are priced out of the building. Figure THAT out and we'll see another dynasty.

  6. One interesting thing to note that I think has hurt the Leafs is right now we are staring down the barrel of the seventh straight season of Atlantic teams making the Stanley Cup final. 6 of those being Florida teams. The Atlantic has been a bloodbath in the playoffs and I’m pretty sure the Leafs would have had more playoff success coming out of the metro.

  7. If you were to genetically engineer an ultimate playoff performer, you would probably come up with Shanahan (or something close). I never got why he signed onto the Dubas approach to building a team, which seems so contrary to his DNA. He did, and that's on him.

  8. Maybe Babcock riding Marner so much wasn't such a bad thing 😆.. makes you wonder if he knew something. Dubas and Keefe created an elite figure skater *^*$&#@%$@(*&)_

  9. There is good and bad with every hiring. The problem is, when the team DOES NOT WIN… people have to go.
Shanahan did alot of good. He was given 11 years.

  10. My plan: let Marner go run back everyone else,
    Resign Pacioretty
    Sign Brad Marchand
    Sign Ehlers
    Sign Phil Kessel

Guaranteed appearance in the cup final.

  11. They should’ve traded Mitch Marner for the guy who’s much better of a hockey player who is 6‘4“ tall 216 pounds. He would’ve been a much better choice for the playoffs because Mitch Marner is only 6 feet 180 pounds of pure weakness. He sucks and now you’re gonna get nothing from him thanks a lot shitty organization in Toronto Maple Leafs. You could’ve traded them, but you fucked yourself.

  12. LOCKING IN CONTRACTS FOR A 1 HIT WONDER MATHEWS AND A NO MOSS NYLANDER WILL BE THE LEAFS DOWNFALL FOR YEARS TO COME. TAVERAS, DOMI, KNIES, MCMANN AND MARNER IS THE TEAM.

  13. The new plan is basically the same old plan as every previous championship team has done—build from the middle out.

    1. Goaltending.
    2. Defence.
    3. Centre.

Then you build out from there.

Not all teams have filled out all those positions in the draft. Some pieces can come through trades, some through free agency. But it’s easier for a middle-6 winger to be elevated playing with a true 1C than a middle-6 C be elevated by a 1RW or a 1LW.
