I’m OK if Shanahan also gets thrown into the mix and get a job. Even though Toronto is an annual early exit, that’s better than the Islanders squeaking into the playoffs and just barely missing a year after year. A regular season winning culture is a vast improvement

Bergevin had his chance in Montreal, during his tenure there he had some early successes but toward the end of his career, his record was fair to midling. Do not hire Bergevin😢

With (if) Shanny by his side, you are getting the Leafs and LIghtning master minds in their successful organization. Two orgs that have done very well at winning and drafting past 10 years. The Habs didn't do well with Bergevin (doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a 2nd chance) but yeah they came back and beat the Leafs during the bubble play-offs (which I won 5 grand in that series with five 1-thousand dollar bets with sucker Leaf fans) but the Habs have owned the Leafs for over a century – and with the Leafs "Maple Leafing", I made a few big bets confidently. That is one of the most lopsided rivalries in North American sports, it had nothing to do with Bergevin's mastery.

I mean we do need to put an asterisk neat little to that finals appearance. They played a team from their division in the finals. In a normal season that can’t happen. They would of at most played them in the conference finals
We need a young GM – Darche – comes from a consistent winning organization. Shanahan would make a great POHO – dude's a winner. He can't play the game anymore, that's on the players and coaches. He put together an offensive juggernaut.
I won't be at ease until: 1. Lou if officially gone and has taken a job elsewhere. 2. Mathieu Darche is officially named GM of the NY Islanders. 3. Shanahan picked the consensus choices when he brought in Marner, Matthews, and Nylander. Overrated. Name Denis Potvin as POHO and Darche as GM with assistant GM's to help him with Bridgeport and the big club.
