  1. Has anybody, anywhere calculated the post season revenues brought into the corporation in the past 10 seasons? It's about the $$$, not the cups, so it's been a very successful decade for the bean counters. That profit has offset a goodly amount of cap hit. Just saying….do the math.

  2. Steve Says: "What am I gonna miss?"

Here's your answer. Making the playoffs. As we speak: Tavares is unsigned. Matthews has a mystery injury that no one knows anything about. Nylander is healthy. This year's UFA class is not strong. We have no assets to trade. A 102 point player is walking away and we get nothing. Not just that. Everyone seems to have a short memory. Remember when Matthews was away and Marner was driving things and we were winning?

What are you gonna miss? Winning in the regular season. Because let's be real. If you can't make the playoffs, then what are you doing? I think Steve takes 9 consecutive playoff appearances for granted, like all of the fanbase does. They don't recognize that's work and it's hard work to do. Half of the teams don't make it into the playoffs and Toronto doesn't have this large stable of upcoming talent that's gonna carry the team to victory.

Marner needs to walk. Because the city is toxic. But this idea, that you're just gonna keep making the playoffs with no depth. With Matthews' mystery injury. Maybe Tavares signs a cheap contract… maybe… but if he doesn't that 200 points unaccounted between him and Marner and I don't know how you consistently make the playoffs at that point. No you can't run it back. But let's stop pretending that things will be BETTER… and that nothing will be missed… you are going to miss consistently making the playoffs.

Also… them overstating "it's not the fans". Right. Because it's MLSE that posted Marner's address online so he could be harassed. Right? You know where that doesn't happen? Florida. Tampa. Dallas. Vegas. Shall I continue?

  3. Good player but he has to let him go! 13.5 million is to much for Toronto to pay. He will be a great player for an other team.

  4. Honestly for all the flack marner gets about his interviews this was probably his most honest and best interview but i think that also speaks to already being one foot out the door. I do believe he loved being a leaf and playing here but his mentality in the playoffs alongside matthews just cant cut it, they both need to be gone. Marners the scapegoat for matthews failures as a leader

  5. 5 years ago i was saying id rather have willy over mitch and i still 100% agree with that. Drop off mitch and john and dont fill that entire void of cap over free agency give yourselves room to shuffle things around you never know what kindof opportunities come up between summer and trade deadline.

  6. The funny thing is that you guys never played a sport in your entire life. You don’t know what goes on the hockey arena when they have to make decisions what’s benefit for their family so I think you guys need to think before you open your mouth because you sound so stupid.

  7. Remember the 2015 entry draft? The one where Buffalo and Toronto were both tanking to try and select Conor McDavid? Well Buffalo selected Eichel, who ended up leaving (and the Leafs chose Marner). The Sabres haven't made the playoffs since the 2010-11 season. Toronto has made the playoffs for the 9 straight seasons. Be careful what you wish for.

  8. Steve is the biggest phony.

Marner has played 1st line PP, 1st line PK and 1st line. He's been vital for so many years, hit 100 pretty much twice.

Top 3 passer in the league and a reason that he makes Team Canada.

But hey keep blaming him because you CANT replace him

  9. One problem is that you have several players who wear earrings to the rink and you play a lot of corny rap music at home games. Gotta fix that

  10. People are gonna rip apart Marner for whatever he says…obviously he's going to choose his words intentionally. Calling the dude a liar because he didn't speak exactly what was on his mind bothers me

  11. Trade Willy. Willy goes MIA when he's not scoring. Doesn't back check, Doesn't forecheck. Doesn't hit. We can get someone else to score the tap ins that Marner provides

  12. Not a Leaf’s fan but NHL fan: is it worse for Toronto to not make playoffs or to lose in first/second round every year?

  13. I’ve been watching Steve for the past 6 or so years. I bought both of his books, so this is tough to say. He’s being a crybaby. I get he wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes to the Leafs. Some of his takes, including this one, is bad.

  14. Other than Leafs fans, everyone wishes Marner re-signs with Toronto for a massive long-term deal so we can joke about it every year.

  15. Toronto fans are the absolute worst. Booing your own players, throwing sweaters on the ice? Get bent. How many cups does Phil Kessel have, you ungrateful bastards? Three, baby. (Okay, two that he earned—but one that should’ve been paired with the Conn Smythe! Bleeping hockey “journalists”! Another reason to hate Toronto.) I been fond of the Leafs since the 2014 Winter Classic, and actively cheered for them (when not playing the Canes or Pens) since Matthews debuted. Now? I pray to all the hockey gods that they always get to R2 and lose—forever and ever, amen. You don’t deserve the players you get, you don’t deserve to be the center of the hockey world, you don’t deserve hope or respite. I curse you Toronto—I curse you with the Curse of Phil!

(Disclaimer: Residual bitterness about going up to Toronto for a youth hockey tournament years ago with brand new snow boots and it was 40°F and rainy.)

  16. Genuine question: Why should Marner do any favors for the Leafs front office or the fans who hate his guts? The primary factor in any contract is pay, so don't be mad that he stood firm when they fucked him over multiple times by that point. You are welcome to be critical of his play, but the blame for this whole situation falls on management.

  17. I'll put it this way. If any fanbase got a player like Mitch Marner, they would be grateful to have that type of talent on their team. The Leafs fanbase forgets where we were 15-20 years ago, and because we have been spoiled for the last 8, we forget how lucky we truly have been to have the talent we have. Yes, playoffs this and that, but at the core of everything, Marner is a great player who has been our most consistent, and reliable player. People are losing their minds, but Marner, at the end of his Leafs playoff tenure, was SIXTH in overall playoff points. He was in the TOP TEN, alongside Nylander at FIVE. He finished with 13 points. Rantanen had 19, at the time (Because y'all be throwing a fit about the trade that could have been). He's a good player, but Leafs fans take things at face value and never identify the surrounding areas that players contribute in. Nylander was a defensive liability in game 7, but no one is pissed about that. Matthews was great on the forecheck, throwing hits, and only showed up when it mattered the least, but no one drills into him about that. Tavares, Patches, Knies, Domi, and Laughton were easily the most impactful offence we had all series. I personally would love Marner back, but I think this fanbase is ungrateful, entitled, and needs a wakeup call, and with him potentially leaving, there will be a lot of exposed areas in our play, and when it does get exposed, I hope we don't complain about letting Marner go. Yeah, a trade would have been ideal, but like they said in this video, his agent is the type to run contracts out. We shouldn't be putting all the blame on Marner. We should be putting it on the whole team.

  18. It's quite clear he's not coming back to the leafs and it's for the best for both of the team and the player. There will probably be 31 teams calling his agent to see what his number is and to try to sell him on that location and hopefully he chooses well.

  19. we have 4 scondary/support players making over 10M a season. similar to when we had kessel. kessel was never the guy here. was treated like he was, but never was. team needs a leader. unless austin shows he can take over a game and use his size and will a game to his play. this isnt it. tavares was never it. gotta take a couple steps back before we can move forward.

  20. "These people vote". All 3 of you goofs had pronouns in your bios up until recently. Don't act tough when you are part of the sheep.

  21. The expectations from this delusional fanbase are silly. They arent a cup team and they expect the cup. If they were a bit more humble, Id actually root for them

  22. You said to get rid of him last year and this year and I disagree. He is the entertainment I turn on the game for. I want him to win the Stanley Cup HERE ! Not somewhere else.
I quote Steve Dangle, "GARY BETTMAN'S NHL IS AN UNENDING NIGHTMARE !"
So what if the NHL changes the rules for the playoffs. There is no trade you can think up to change that.

  23. Let Marner walk. Trade Rielly. Trade Matthews for Hintz, Rantanen, or Aho. Sign Ekblad and Sam Bennett (or Marchand). Sign McDavid in 2026.

  24. if it makes you feel any better, voting doesn't matter at all. you're gonna get fd either way. you just get to choose who does the fing.

  25. Why don't you people look straight into the camera, and say exactly to it, what is it that Marner could have done all by himself that would have the Leafs be playing in the next round? Screaming at the team, that I understand, screaming at the organization, that I understand, screaming at Leafs fans, that I understand, but screaming at one individual and say you lost game seven all by yourself. That is a bunch of cry babies screaming a temper tantrum, he can not win a game all by himself you bunch of dummies
