Yeah, tons of Isles fans say Utah would be crazy not to trade the #4 for Dobson. One was crazy enough to say on a healthy D-line he could 'easily score 100 pts a season' Just wow!
I’m tuning in to see Trent lose it. Don’t let me down!
GMBA isnt trading a TOP asset. He can get a GREAT player at #4, he doesnt need another "offensive" defenseman
If anything, I think we should trade up to the #1 pick. The number #4 pick, our 2nd rounder, and an NHL ready player for #1 pick. It helps the Isles pretty weak farm system, they still get a very good draft pick and another pick, and a player in our rich system (thinking Lamoureux, we can't keep everyone) and we can get Misa.
Keep Durzi!!!!
I think you gotta do it, you can sign a 2nd line center in free agency. It’s a rarety to see a number one defenseman make it to free agency never mind a young one that fits perfectly into your core.
I think you touched on something that's likely to happen, regardless of whether the 4th pick is involved: Durzi is probably going to be on the chopping block at some point. Either way, BA didn't acquire But, Simashev, and Iginla just to bring in someone who will block their development. I see one more year with basically the same lineup, with the exception of Maatta-type fill-ins at forward, especially if we can get But and Simashev over here next season. We’ll have to be patient. Interesting trade ideas, though…
Dobson threw 10M out there knowing the Isles wouldn't do it and shop him. Not sure Dobson will require 10M from a place he may want to play. Not arguing to go after him, just saying. He IS a risk. If we trade for him, he may not want to stay. And if he DOES stay and gets 10M or more, that hinders us. We still have players needing new contracts.
We had 38 points in our last 31 games (once Durzi and Marino were back). This team is REALLY close. But yeah, I don't want Bill Armstrong to cheat code this team. If we don't trade UP to #1 (Misa) keep #4 and get the best guy. Use FA money to fill in whatever holes you think we need to fill.
Horvat is too old and not worth his contract. You guys are doing the opposite of what BA wants to do.
Draft at No. 4. Easy decision.
One thing I think everyone is overlooking is the goaltending situation. What are we going to do if Vejmelka gets hurt? Are we really going to run with Stauber and Villalta? I guess I am going to have to be the one to say it, the Ingram situation is not good. As a person I feel for him and wish him the very best, but you cannot move forward with someone who ducks out when life gets tough. That sounds really insensitive, but it is the truth….
Thanks for another great episode! It's thought-provoking, but I'm still all in on Desnoyers.
I'm a Boston fan just listening in lmao. You want to keep 4. The depth at Center is why I'm okay with dropping to 7. There's 9 prospects I really like for Boston and 6 are centers. I want McQueen due to his size and Bostons great medical facilities. I think he can stay healthy and play with an edge.
If they offer Horvat and Dobson for 4 and Durzi you cant say no. You immediately become a contender and have an amazing leader and player in Horvat. I think thats a slamdunk play for Utah. Will just need to keep drafting centers or make a big trade up for a prospect they really like when Horvat is ready to hang up the boots.
If 4OA even comes close to being as good of a player as dobson, it will be called an amazing pick. Should be pretty obvious to take the player whos elite now and still only 25, vs the player who “may” be elite in 4 years
Stay at 4 and draft a player. We need to stay in patient. This team isn’t close enough for the big swings in my opinion.
Great show as always. Not trading 4OV for Dobson
GMBA will take either Brady Martin, Jackson Smith or possibly Caleb Desnoyers…
