One thing that bothers me as a leaf fan is that fans and media don't understand one thing. People are talking like "oh, how do we have to avoid Florida". Your goal shouldn't be to avoid Florida, if you're the best team in the league, you don't care who you play, because you believe you are the best.

They could also offer Marner more with 8 years and they could also differ money to sweeten the pot for after his career is over… don’t see Marner lasting past another 8 years.

Marner isn't worth his current contract. There's no way he gets more money than Rantanen. The market was set with that deal. But regardless, rrade Marner's 8th year. Should get a 1st.
Rogers only looks at tthe bottom line. Winning is not a priority to a board of executives, profit margins are. Perfect example is the Blue Jays. Incompetent management but they bring in profits for Rogers.

The whole choke culture started with that stupid signing of the most overrated player in the league mr I can't skate John Tagarbage. Imagine if the didn't offer that career I have done nothing that idiotic contract these young kids at the time like Marner Mathews and Willie who are heads above Tagarbage talent wise wouldn't have recieved their dumb contracts. Then Guess what you could have gotten a legit #1 goalie instead of being the laughing stock of the league. But please tell me what Tagarbage has won in the NHL? It would be nice to be able to get to the playoffs with Marner's help and then trade him for someone useful in playoffs. Any team who wants him should pay the price and add in a bonus of a free set of golf clubs with membership to the closest golf course around whatever team he moves to.

Marners 100 point regular season can leave IMO. What they need to focus on, for 13 million, is playoff performance. We have never seen any leaf coach NOT fire up the line blender. Matthews does not NEED Marner to perform. All this team needs to do is make the playoffs and perform. Marner did NOT do that. His contract can pay for two or three players that will outscore him and be a net positive. This will be a happy offseason leaf fans. Let Marner struggle in a market where no one knows who he is and no one cares enough about his performance to be upset. Maybe he can win a vezina, lol.
Cant blame him or anyone playing in that toxic environment to not re-sign… don't agree with the toxic environment comment? McDavids been what, 11 yrs? How many post seasons? How many cups? How many really bad playoff games? How many times his jersey has been tossed on the ice? And the fans are nicer than the media. Good players leave, and always seem to end up winning cups within a year or two elsewhere. Why is that?
