Maple Leafs grant Islanders permission to speak to Brendan Shanahan

Between Marner and Tavares , that frees up what $24 million or so to go after UFA's ? Tavares best days are behind him , offer him a good amount on a new contract and if he says NO , then move on !

Shannahans biggest mistake was giving Dubas the job. Wasted 5 years of this franchise. Dubas destroyed this team, their depth, their assets
