  1. You guys are way too enthusiastic about Laine lol… yeah he scores in power play, but he's just taking away caufield stats to be honest… 5-on-5 he's atrocious, also not a good example for team culture and where we want to go with playoff toughness, certainly not a good fit for Demidov, he would be quite the overpayed guy on a 3rd line… If the offer is remotely reasonable, trade him right now!!

  2. We would not have made the playoffs with out his goals, remember he played injured all season .He is not the saviour but he is still an elite player if properly used .hopefully he will be in good shape next year..

  3. the only laine i want to see is the one going out the door on his way out of Montreal – he is NOT worth the space or cap… his defensive effort is shambolic

  4. Imagine the Habs having Laine and a new center on the 2nd powerplay unit? Mtl has the potential to have 2 1st units

  5. The whole league seems to have figured out how to defend laine on the pp. Thats all they go for when hes out there. Boring and predictable.

  6. Demidov — I just want to keep him in this perfect bubble. Protect him at all costs.
Honestly, I’m blown away by the work ethic these young guys are showing. Demidov, Hutson, Caufield, Suzuki… they all seem laser-focused and driven. It’s incredible to see that kind of discipline and maturity at such a young age.
Sometimes I stop and think — what was I even doing at their age? These are still just kids, and yet they carry themselves like seasoned pros. Nothing but respect.
Just felt like sharing that. It’s pretty inspiring to watch.

  7. Laine with an actual elite centre = 30-40 goal scorer. Laine with an elite centre AND Demidov = 40-50 goal scorer.

  8. I was excited when we aquired Laine, until I watched him play. Cool, he scores on the PP, what about the remaining 95% of the game?
I feel like he has a bad attitude, gets hurt too often, gets sick every other day. He is a liability and I desperately want him gone. I don't feel like he fits the team. Just my opinion.

  9. To me Laine is simply not a winner. His style has been hated by every coach he's had. And Torts, Maurice, Marty know a thing or two about what it takes. Any Laine enthusiasm is delusional. How do you win in the playoffs with such sloppy / weak defensive instincts?

  10. Laine is just blocking younger players. His effort level is not there, which is not a good example for the younger players. Every line of the Capitals wanted to play against Laine. Imagine what the Panthers would do in the playoffs against him!! It was worth taking a chance on him but not worth keeping him any longer.

  11. If I’m Kent Hughes, I’m staying pat this offseason unless it’s a amazing deal that betters the team currently. Don’t go crazy in free agency either unless the price is right.

Laine, Dach and Demidov could be an unreal 2nd line. We haven’t seen these players together yet.
