NFL is full of injuries. No locks for 53 man squad .
Don't you ever sleep, Andy? π
Beautiful pronunciation. Keep up the great work Andy. Been listening daily from Scotland for a while and wanted to show my support.
Thanks Andy great context.π
I'm looking forward to seeing Lloyd.
Think that Jaire would have been more than happy to move on from Green Bay except that he now has an all pro safety playing in the defensive backfield with him. Jaire was working out with McKinney in the offseason. That means a lot. Packers defensive backfield is just better when Jaire is out there. Hopefully, they can find a way to get him back for another year, and he can stay healthy for this year.
Christian Watson will almost certainly begin the season on the PUP list. The key dilemma is choosing a 6th receiver out of Mecole Hardman, Bo Melton, and Malik Heath. They are all different flavors of receiver and could justify a place on the roster based on their varying skill sets. Bo Melton may have been the leader in the clubhouse, but he has similar physical profile to Matthew Golden, which could make him obsolete in the offense. Malik Heath is valuable as the βgoonβ receiver, doing the dirty work and serving as an effective blocker, but he is probably the most limited true receiver and may be the most likely to make it back to the practice squad. Ultimately, the Green Bay Packers go with Mecole Hardman due to his ability as a returner, assuming he win the job in training camp. Cutting all 3 receivers is not out of the question, trusting at least 1 receiver will return on the practice squad. There is no Romeo Doubs trade. Given Christian Watson is set to be out for much of the year, and the 2 incoming rookies need to prove themselves, a trade would seem more likely at the deadline than before the season. Go Pack Go ππππ
If they get Jaire back, do you keep an extra corner JIC?
Great stuff as always! Just curious why you think Hopper is lock. He struggled to get on the field last year during garbage time.
26 minutes I count on you to kill more time than that lol jk thank you for everything you do Andy!
Can you please share your thoughts on the Favre documentary?
I think the reason Enegbare never took off is because Day 1 he asked to be called JJ and we said nah youβre Kingsley lol.
Give us a video about the final 24 and which 9 donβt make it
My favorite part of the Golden contract is he became the Packers' highest paid pass catcher as soon as he signed. Fun piece of trivia.
Offense:
QB
QB1 Jordan Love lock as starter ~ must regain the form he showed in 2nd half of rookie year.
QB2 Mark Willis on the bench should he be needed is a lock ~ solid backup QB for the Packers.
QB3 Taylor Elgersma will have an excellent shot to displace Sean Clifford as QB3 in camp.
RB
RB1 Josh Jacobs leads the way Marshawn Lloyd expected to step into RB 2 role both locks.
RB3&4 Either or both Emanuel Wilson & Chris Brooks who most likely make the roster as well.
TE
TE1 Tucker Kraft without any doubt a lock ~ great blocker & a beast for yards after the catch.
TE2 Luke Musgrave 1 of biggest ??? on this GB offense. Needs to live up to his 2nd round pick.
TE3 Either Ben Sims or the resigned John FitzPatrick will be the 3rd tight end the Packers keep.
WR
6 WRs that are etched in stone barring a trade or injury for the Packers in the 2025 season:
Mathew Golden~Savion Williams~Jayden Reed~Tay Wicks~Romeo Doubs~Christian Watson
However Watson not expected back until late in the season WR#6 will be wide open in camp.
Mecole Hardman~Bo Melton~Malik Heath should be the 3 that battle it out for the last spot.
Offensive Line
7 O lineman etched in stone barring a trade or injury for the Packers in the 2025 season:
Rasheed Walker~Jordan Morgan~Aaron Banks~Elton Jenkins~Sean Rhyan~Anthony Belton
~Zach Tom players will all make the Packers final 53 man roster without a shadow of a doubt.
Fully expecting last years 3rd rounder Jacob Monk to also be almost a lock to make the 53.
7th rounder John Williams another who should have a very good shot to make the final 53 too.
The 10th & final position is wide open ~ 17 offensive lineman on the Packers current roster!
Defense:
Safety
Xavier McKinney~Evan Williams~Javon Bullard~Kitan Oladapo these 4 locks to make the 53
Zayne Anderson leader in the clubhouse to be the last safety but may face challenges in camp.
CB
The top 3 guys are etched in stone in what is a shallow weak room currently for the Packers
Nate Hobbs~Keisean Nixon~Carrington Valentine all locks to make GB's final 53 man roster.
Jaire Alexander would certainly be a lock if he was to return on a cheaper restructured deal.
Good reviews on Packers former 7th round pick Kalen King early from camp might make 53.
Behind the 3 vets are a 6th rounder, 2 7th rounders & UDFA's all inexperienced. A lack of depth.
One room would be nice to see Gute work to add an experienced body too before the season.
LB
Edgerrin Cooper is emerging to be the leader of this group after a stellar rookie season for GB.
Quay Walker's play was much better latter part of 2024 under Jeff Hafley & his new scheme.
Isaiah McDuffie resigned a good run defender he will anchor that LB room with those top two.
2024 3rd round reach by Gute Tyron Hopper would also be expected as a lock in this room.
Isaiah Simmons an elite teams player & Kristen Welch lead the way behind those top 4 locks.
DE
Rashan Gary~Luke Van Ness~Barryn Sorrel~Colin Oliver these 4 are all locks in the DE room.
Brenton Cox Jr leads challengers for the last 2 spots for this unit heading into 2025 season.
Aaron Mosby or Kingsley Engabare leaders in the clubhouse to round out this room for GB.
DL
Kenny Clark~Devonte Wyatt~Karl Brooks all locks to make the DE room final 53 man roster.
Warren Brinson 6th round pick should have a very strong chance to make this unit for GB.
Nazir Stackhouse UDFA out of Georgia may displace Colby Wooden as a better option at NT.
Yet another room lacks depth behind the 3 veterans all low draft picks & UDFA's. Lack of depth.
With Kenny Clark coming off a career worse season ~ 1 sack this room is certainly suspect!
Would be advantagieous for Gute to find another veteran body to help solidify this room too.
Special Teams
Both kickers are locks to make the final 53 man roster.
P Daniel Whelan
PK Brandon McManus
LS Matt Orzech could face competion in camp although he likely remains on the 53 like 2024.
Go Pack Go!
Safe list Andy. I agree. And I also think Cox deserves more playing time.
enagbare is a lock for sure. He's our 2nd best pass rusher.
Thanks Andy, I really want to see Mecole Hardman make the team. We have had a train wreck as punt returners the past few years. He also has a ring and knows what it takes to win the final game of the season.
Linebacker is really interesting to me. Cooper, Quay, Hopper, MacDuffie, Simmons, Welch, Dumas-Johnson and Oliver are all in the mix and the last 4 all have different skill sets and the athleticism to play special teams. Things are certainly different with the Packers in how they view the position from previous years. A lot of speed and some serious draft capital used on the position. Hafley should be able to run a lot of simulated blitzes and be able to be creative with them. GoPackGo πππππππππππ―
