I think leafs should trade matthews hes had 9 years to win a cup and it's the same old story a d same excuses for 9 years.
Shanny brought in Brad and Craig. This flop is on the players. Shanny changed the GM and coach but this year is all on the players.

Brad has done an absolute stellar job, here is what’s going to happen , Brad will take over ALL hockey related responsibilities, Shanny can go two ways , 1 ) Obviously the don’t renew his contract or 2) He has made them soooo much money he may stay to continue to do that and have nothing to do with Hockey opps,
This indicates to me the organization is taking a very serious look at how this team is going to move forward. I feel like they have been making changes to get them closer. I'm thinking this is a good thing. I don't expect a tear down but changes are coming
We talk about the definition of insanity to bring back the same players and do it over again. The definition of insanity is also letting a GM go that has done AMAZING things for the organization the last two seasons. To me Tre and Berube are untouchables

The Leafs need to keep Tre no matter what. And the coach is really good too. Tre built this team A LOT better than the entire Dubas era.
As I said, the Leafs must keep Tre & the current coach. They must keep Matthews, Knies & Nylander. They must keep their Defensive Core & build from there.
Before we beg them for another rebuild, we should take a long look at Buffalo and how hard it is to get to where the Leafs are right now.

I would try to see where Marner really wants to go. Cause there's gonna be several teams to bid for him. So wherever he thinks he wants to go I would call that team and say, Hey, he's willing to go to you guys. We'll sign up to what you think he's gonna get.And we'll make a treat that way, you hopefully you get something for them.If not well let them go

The Islanders have been granted permission to speak to Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan about an opening in their front office, Sportsnet can confirm
Keith Pelley should have had the guts to pick up the phone right after the whistle blew to end game 7 and called Shanahan and told him to clear his office first thing Tuesday morning. Then had a press conference saying they're totally gutting the team and everybody is on the table, no one is safe.

I think Treliving stays, you don’t fire a guy who has done as good of a job as him with limited resources after 2 years. Also that take on sacrificing next year to go for the UFA’s is a bad one because that assumes none of those guys sign extensions. It’s very rare you get a free agent class as what is SUPPOSEDLY to come, but odds are a lot of those guys re-up with their current teams
Treliving, Shanahan and Marner need to GTFO of Toronto.

The sun still came up on Monday morning. They took last years champs ( and more then likely this year too) to seven games. Enyone notice the score last night in Carolina? Number one goalie out, numerous players playing hurt. They don't need to blow up everything just change some pieces. Marner is not built play offs and his 13 million request should get one ot two good players in return. I'd like to see Travaris stay but at half the money of last contract. Bigger and grittier is what they need.
