BOSTON BRUINS GM DON SWEENEY GETS 2-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION
Breaking news here on a Tuesday morning as the Boston Bruins have signed general manager Don Sweeney to a 2-year contract extension. This is Ian McLaren, host of Locked On Boston Bruins. And as we all knew, Don Sweeney was entering this season with one year left on his deal, and he had a lot of work to do in order to get the Bruins back on track. And one of those was finding a new head coach. And there have been reports that Don Sweeny’s relative uncertainty may have detracted some top candidates. Well, here today, the Bruins signed Sweeney to a 2-year contract extension through the 2027 28 season. And maybe that will give candidates the stability or modicum of stability that they need to take this job a bit more seriously. Stay tuned for a full episode on this breaking news.

More of the same, I guess. Would have rather seen that money go to guaranteeing the contract of the new coach, but I guess the priority is the "old boy network" and taking care of their own. Too bad Montgomery didn't get the same consideration. We wouldn't be searching for a new coach, but it's a lot easier to blame him for all this wrong with the team now. Montgomery, like the Adams winning coaches before him, are all gone when we have Sweeney for another 3 years. Maybe time to ReDiscover allegiances

Proves that this ownership doesn't give tow craps about thus team. They can't even get a decent coach to come here because they know how bad a GM that Sweeney is. What a complete joke that this organization has become. Literally the laughing stock of the NHL. 😊
His uncertainty didn't distract the coaches, genius. The fact that he is still here, after firing three of the best coaches in the NHL is THE reason that any good coach won't come here. They know that Sweeney will use them as scapegoats for his lousy work.

Absolutely a stupid decision !!! He was an average undersized defensive at best. He is a mediocre GM at best. Coaches don’t want to deal with him(maybe it’s a Napoleon complex!!). Players don’t want to play here because them don’t want to deal with. Get ready for another bust of a year with no playoff hopes. As long as fans keep putting their asses in seats nothing is going to change !!!!!
