During the first stage of Kaluga Region Governor’s Cup in rapid chess, many different events took place on the chessboards of our little heroes. I want to share these little stories with you. Some of them may surprise you, how resilient these very young chess players can be. The tragedy of other stories, on the contrary, may take your breath away. But in all these cases, our heroes gained experience and even matured to some extent from game to game.

On April 5, 2025, the first stage of the Kaluga Region Governor’s Cup in rapid chess was held in the Kaluga Sports Palace “Central”.
The competition is run from April to December 2025 and will consist of 3 qualifying stages and a final stage. The qualifying stages are held according to the Swiss system in 7 rounds or according to the round robin system. The final stage is held in a round robin format in 7 rounds.
