Scott Darling went from a goalie in the SPHL to the NHL in just a few short years. The Stanley Cup Champion is the only player ever to do this, and his rise to the Chicago Blackhawks through the SPHL, ECHL, and AHL is a minor league legend. Most hockey stories don’t begin in the minors; they often start with an NHL farm team, but Scott Darling has his story begin after a junior career in the NAHL and USHL, and a short NCAA hockey career with Maine. He was taken in the 6th round of the 2007 NHL draft by the Phoenix Coyotes.
