lol 😂 Brian your killing me bro red wings need a star player it was said well on last episode- we need a good defenseman to bridge over these young guys – and we need a star Forward – and some role players ( which we should already have – i think the biggest key getting rid one one or more of the bad contracts we hold atm
This team js a few players away not from a playoff spot but from playoff contention- the ? Is are we going to do what it takes to get the right players in – we are set up a as a skilled squad missing key players 2 years in a row this has been very obvious more then ever / this last year it was hitting you in the face – I know most aren’t happy Larkin said those comments but honestly we all know he got chewed out by Stevie Maybe this needed to happen Larkin didn’t sign a 8×8 for the results we got this year – and as for the cost of players it’s either here nor there more worried about players not getting signee cause they want a extra year sorry all the strike out last year obviously has a huge impact on the players and this was on the owners not Stevie so let’s see what they do this year 🎉😂

The high end UFAs go wherever they want for their own reasons. Ask the Tigers about Alex Bregman. No matter what the compensation package was, he wasn’t coming to Detroit.
Gavrikov is a huge upgrade over any left hand d man on this roster beside Eddy ! I’m down to offer 4-5 years . At 6-6.5 mill money well spent .!?

They should try to get McKenna. Simple as.
My concern is that every off season we talk about all the quality free agents that the Redwings could add and yet they never come to Detroit. It’s not a desirable situation for players that could go anywhere. There is zero doubt that Marner and Gavrykov could greatly improve this team. But what is the actual likelihood of landing either ? Not good IMO. So it’s like playing fantasy hockey every summer until Yzerman goes and signs a Compher or Gustaffson.
Definitely the FA I hope were most in on. If we need to give him 6y and pay closer to 7, I still think it’s worth it. He’s not a defenseman whose game is based on speed and him being 6’3 should help him be effective longer. He immediately fills a massive hole on this team.

No. Unless you get rid of chiarot and holl but if not, we need to play our prospects. Wallinder is already 23, Buium is already 23. Tuomisto is 24. Give these kids a chance.
Signing Marner would give us him and Larkin who both seem mentally weak. Not a fan of a Mitch signing.

If we add Marner and Gabrikov, we're sailing pretty high. It doesn't matter what 31 other teams want to do, or wants to try to do. What matters is whether the Red Wings can sell him on our team.
No question… If at all possible, get him. Since the cap is rising, getting him now at even 7mil is reasonable considering how much a similar player would be next year or the next, etc.
Again, like with Marner, this team is a case of beggars can't be choosers. Everyone saying, "no, go after…" ignores the fact that this team hasn't been in the playoffs & will likely not look as attractive as a playoff team, apart from offering more money. Any good d-man should be sought. And yes, Yzerman needs to lay off the "discount player" market. We have & have had enough of those. It's time to take a serious swing at a serious player or two. The biggest concern, will Yzerman be able to land one in this market?
Gavrikov wouldn’t be flashy but his defensive metrics are excellent. I’m sure Holland will do everything to keep him. It would be great if Gav were to come to the Wings. We could then help Holland fill that hole in his roster by trading Chiarot to LAK for a 1R pick.
I would rather we get Gavrikov and another D man over Marner. Our D is far worse than our forwards.

The correct way to refer to people who don't care so much about "underlying numbers" is as "people with good eyes".
In a perfect world, we sign Marner first…then it is an easier sell to convince Gavrikov to join the team. TBH, Gavrikov is a greater need as we cant afford another season of Chairot in the top 4.

They won't get either one. Stevie will never pay that much for Marner, and every team is going to be in on Gabrikov.

Wings have so many guys on expiring contracts in 2026. Sincerely the Wings should sign Gavrikov to pair with Seider then your future is Seider/Gavrikov and ASP/Edvinson as your top 4. Thats a massive improvement. A player with size on the top line would be my 2nd priority. Then package your picks and trade away Compher. Then at the end of this coming season Talbot, Mrazek, Chairot, Holl, Gustavson and Tarasenko are all off the books. Improve the defense and physicality, see what you have in the younger players (Danielson, MBN, ASP, Mazur, Cossa/Augustine, etc…). Then look to really finalize the team after '25. Gavrikov would be my #1 priority. Hard pass on Marner. In spite of his talent a 180, 185, 190 lbs line of Marner, Raymond and Larkin would get absolutely bullied.
