The Islanders will hire Brendan Shanahan as president of hockey operations and then hire Marc Bergevin as general manager.
No chance Habs want Laffy at that cap hit. They have to worry about Demidov and Hutson extensions, and they definitely need another impact center not a winger whose progress has clearly stalled.
As a long time leafs fans I wont like how all the blame is shifted on Marner. The core 4 is responsible as a whole and a change is long overdue and not just one of them

With Jensen having surgery Ottawa should pick up another right shot d man.Sometimes surgeries don't go well.Ottawa should be used to that,Norris was a prime example.And they should consider Connor Brown or Jack Quinn.There are several options,but it would be a trade for one more right shot d man.

Marner & Tavarese need to be let go— IF 7 years of falling short doesnt teach the LEAFS it aint working well then i dont know what will?? They need to overhaul 30% of the roster. That was an EMBARRASSMENT against FLORIDA.

For the love of all that is holy, HABS are not interested in laffy taffy. Montreal has a major hole they need to address and that is the #2 center and that will be the focus, not Lafreniere. Montreal still has to get through 1 more ruthless year of Carey Prices $10.5 million strangle hold of a contract before they can rid themselves of this so they don't have a ton of cap space available. Montreal needs to also address some other UFA and RFA contracts and possibly another D-man, so trust me when I say this is not going to happen
1st the Rangers dealt Kakko who was shipped to Seattle and is developing properly…now they are going to deal Lafreniere? Bad job by the Rangers organization. The team's development process needs to be re-evaluated.

Your take on JT is all wrong. Financially he had better offer elsewhere before signing with Toronto (both Long Island and San Jose were offering him more), so he did give Toronto a home town discount. It was Dubasssss' fault for giving into Matthews, Marner and Nylander demands creating the financial mess that they have been for the past 7 years. Having said all that, I would gladly take JT back on a 3-4 years contract averaging $5M/yr

Tavarus is a free agent and could sign cheaper for for 4 years at 7 to 8 million. BEST BUY AVAILABLE H e wants a cup and Toronto will not fit the bill.
