Rangers are very terrible at selecting free agents and they're very good at getting into salary cap problems.
Marner is getting murdered on Toronto fan sites for not showing up in playoff games – kinda like half the Rangers team. We already have Panarin for regular season scoring.
Tavares will stay in Toronto, past his prime. Sam Bennett has no reason to leave Florida.

It's virtually impossible not to overpay in free agency. Everybody overpays in free agency!!! I really do not think the Rangers need to get a third line center in FA. If Rangers are going to overpay then let's do it on the FA D out there. Gavrikov & Provorov are at the top of the list. Then Rangers trade K'iller for Bowen Byram, who is definitely wanting out of Buffalo. I thing Rangers can swing that. Drafting Jackson Smith or Aitcheson with the 12th is a future oriented pick & now the defense is rounding into shape. And don't sleep on Jackson Dorrington either. Throws big hits, likes to be a "bully" in front of the net & looked pretty good with the Pack. Does Matthew Robertson get a legit shot this year under Sullivan? He deserves to!
