Im not sure I've ever seen a player with a year like Kapanen. National team, SHL, AHL, NHL fregular season and playoffs. What a crazy diverse range of leagues, styles and experience. I hope he has a great off-season and comes in lean & mean.

I don't agree that the habs need this guy. We have tons of 3rd line caliber players players and coming up. What we need is a legit no.2c to play with Demidov and likely Dach on the wing of that line. Many have forgotten or given up on Dach, but he will likely be in the second line next year, hopefull healthy, and either show he belongs with this group, or raise his value and trade him for an acceptable return.
Montreal and New York are not friends. Unlikely to make a trade offersheet is possible.
No. Go for peterka or mctavish and if you can't get them you try for dobson and try and trade for a center or try and sign bennett
Cuylle, love the size and physicality but that’s a lot of coin for an unproven commodity. We already have one of those in Slav.

Mailloux will become a better player than Reinbacker. I hope the Habs don't trade him, it would be as bad as Segachvev and MaDonagh.. I know the Habs will always privilege Reinbacker because of the Michkov goof and also because Mailloux was a Bergevin pick
That's double what Cuylle is worth. He's a 4mil at most.
I would go after Knies instead of Will. Sting the Leafs and have him playing with Lane and Cole.

Trading Mailloux would be a huge mistake. Mark my words. A top 4 with Hutson-Reinbacher/Guhle-Mailloux would be the most explosive top 4 in the entire league.

Kent Huges and Jeff Gorton at the season end presser said "I think you will see more offer sheets being done". So now other GM's that are hard against the cap who get a call from Hughes saying "Hey, I am interested in your RFA (insert name). What would it take to trade for him?" The other GM is now thinking he better not ask too much or the Habs will offer sheet him. Just my thoughts.

Offer sheets can be used not only to pry a player but to mess up a rival's cap situation. So it makes sense to use an offer sheet in both ways. I don't think we have to worry about the Rangers so the offer sheet for Cuylle would only be to get the player. Offering Knies 9 million for 3 years is both a move to get a player and to hinder a rival's cap situation.
Don't quote me on this but I heard—I think from either Arpon Basu or Marco D'Amico—that there was too much bad blood between Gorton and the Rangers management during their divorce that any kind of negotiation was a non-starter. So a Habs – Ranger trade would never happen. Offer sheet? maybe? Maybe they will match just to spite him, I can see that too,
Offer sheet Cuylle and Knies. Cuylle at $6 million for 6 years and Knies at $7 million for 8 years. Knies is the real deal. Knies with Demidov and a solid 2 C….and look out.
