Mikko Rantanen of The Dallas Stars and Connor McDavid & Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers will play against each other in the Western Conference Final for the second season in a row.
Edmonton advanced in six games last season before falling to the Florida Panthers in seven games in the Stanley Cup Final.
This is the Stars’ third straight visit to the conference final, losing in six games to the Oilers last season and six games to the Vegas Golden Knights the previous season. Oilers in 5… expecting a first game loss (hope im wrong)
If I remember correctly, aren’t these roles reversed from last year? In 2024 WCF, weren’t the Oilers worse than Dallas 5v5 but really good at special teams?

My prediction for this series is going to be the same as the Vegas series.
If Edmonton plays EVERY game like they did in Game 5 vs LA, and Games 1, 4, and 5 vs Vegas, they should win this in 6. They CANNOT afford to take a game or a shift off.
BUT they have to clean up a few things. PP to start. It’s great that 5v5 is winning us games, but the powerplay needs to step up and score a few. 0/ on the road is unacceptable. They need to start scoring on the PP. Because knowing how things go with Edmotnon, Dallas' mediocre 5v5 play will suddenly become GODLY vs Edmonton.
Goaltending needs to be solid again. If Stu even looks a little bit like he’s shaky, swap him for Picks IMMEDIATELY! Oettinger is going to be locked in I feel like.
Unless the need becomes dire, keep Ekholm on the sidelines. D-group is crushing it right now. I don't think there is a need to insert him until EVERYONE is convinced that he's 100%.
Also it's crazy to think that if you take out the first two games vs La, Edmonton is 8-1 in the post-season. Team is ROLLING right now and I like how they're doing it having gone as far as they did last season. EVERYONE is chipping in it seems.

I think you’re underestimating how much a healthy Miro Heiskanen does for Dallas’s all around offensive production and defense. He’s a one man breakout and they just got him back from a 4 month injury. He was looking close to 100% healthy in that last game. They are simply a different team w him in the lineup.

Refs seem to put the whistles away when a team is facing elimination. Favors the team who excels at 5 on 5.
Play disciplined in the early games and I like Oil's chances.
Early in this video I state that the series begins on Thursday. That is obviously FALSE. Near the end of the video I realized my mistake, corrected it and announced my plans for content that is coming on Wednesday for the channel 🙂
I'm so sick of Dallas. The good thing is the TV show original intro from 1986. And the lady with the puppies right behind their team bench. 👀
DAL will not be an easy out. If EDM is to make it past them, it will require a full, solid series from their goaltending.
Split is vital, and .900+ goalending, is a must. If they piss away the opening two games. It's over. They will not run over DAL like they did LA after dropping the opening two, and they will not win 4/5.
It's not going to be open season on Oettinger. DAL has a score to settle with EDM, just like EDM has a score to settle with FLA, and they will be giving the Oil, extra special attention.
If I had to be entirely unbiased, I might say DAL in 7. However, I am cautiously optimistic in saying, EDM in 7. 🍻

I think this will be close but alot more decisive than people think.
Dallas at 5 on 5 with Rantannen and Hintz on the ice is a +7 or 9
Take out Rantannen and they go to a 0.
Take off hintz and they go to a negative.
This is based off of their average starting lines of the playoff.
Edmonton in 5 if they can maintain a clean game and/or a good penalty kill.

Oilers will start to get the PP's they deserve. They are -8 in the playoffs and this will change. Oilers in 4
The super high Beta on Skinner is the single biggest risk we have. Stars don’t possess the puck long or generate much in SOG so Skinner just has to be decent as you said. If he isn’t, we could lose in 5 or 6. If he’s on, Oil in 6 or 7. Don’t like DeBoer having home ice advantage and an ability to set line matchups to his advantage.
If stars maintain their 6 or 7 SOG per 20, we should win this.
I'm worried about their non effective power play, and I still think Drai is injured his snap shot failed to register a goal the last couple of games. Same with McD he is not twisting and turning with his normal speed. Finally they got too long of a break we all know how they perform after long breaks. Unfortunately my prediction is Dallas in 6
