Couldn't agree more. He's the kind of Finn that does the work quietly, and always does it well.
Granlund has scored the most iconic goal in Finnish history, in 2011 against Russia. All of the other Finnish mafia players were kids at that time, no doubt they look up to him.
MG has always been taken for granted.
Granlund is a genius with the puck, such an intelligent player. He can pass the puck like a magician and is really dangerous on a powerplay. Always a joy to watch

He's a national hero in Finland. I was lucky enough to get a picture with him when I was 10 after he led Finland to the World Championship in 2011.
He was goated playing with the sharks. I'm so happy he's doing great with dallas tho. It shows he can be a great hockey player.

Granlund is overlooked because he has played in bad teams his entire career. He is a top playmaker in the league and has a great shot that he could use more. He has always been a player that likes the important games, but due to the crap teams he has played in before he never has gotten a chance to prove it in the NHL. In team Finland he is usually the best player in elimination games.
I used to play junior hockey with him and his brother, they were both super talented and often won games by themselves. Could always see from the beginning that they would go far and Im so happy for Mikael that he FINALLY gets a legit run at the cup he really deserves! The guy has been through so much in his life ❤
Having watched Finnish national hockey since I was a kid, I remember so many times from Granlund that he has stepped up and made the difference during these "do or die" moments. Extremely clutch player and also goes unnoticed and therefore underrated by many.
