PRE-RAW | Jeff Skinner 02.27.25

Jeff can you just maybe speak about the opportunity you have being back in the top six on dry ctle wing and what this whole process has been like for you yeah I think uh you just try and come in and try and contribute the best you can I think obviously as a team we’re we’re trying to sort of grind through a little bit of funk here and um we’re going to do our best to to get off to a good start and and try and get things rolling what are the primary things that you as a team need to correct in front of your goal tenders obviously 22 goals against in the last four games not a recipe for SU yeah I think I mean I think sort of a lot of times people talk about sort of cleaning up turnovers and and being a little bit uh better with our Puck management but also I think we can uh try and spend time in the in the ozone a little bit more uh maybe get a little cycle going I think it longer you can spend in the ozone the more pressure you can keep on the other team and and um uh you can maybe spend a little less time in your zone so there’s a combination of a lot of things I think we we we we’ve got an experienced group and guys that that know um know what we need to do I think it’s just a matter of going out there and executing for you personally when you reflect on the shortterm and the long-term history so far in this season what are some of the lessons that you’ve been able to obtain that you hope to apply beginning here tonight um I don’t know specifically I think it’s just sort of a rolling uh thing throughout the season I think there’s different sort of es and flows to a season and um you can apply different things at different times I think and obviously in a time like this you wna um you you don’t want to get too low you want to try and get back on the right track as as quickly as possible and um sometimes that’s just going back to basics and and keeping things as simple as possible and um I think uh you’ll see see a lot of that uh uh here tonight and uh hopefully uh we can we can get get this thing turned around and get rolling I recall a couple of days ago when you weren’t in the lineup you’re one of the later skaters out there yet you were still having so much fun still bringing that Joy to the rank is that is that a hard thing to do when you’re not in the lineup or what how do you kind of Define your approach to every day regardless of that result uh I mean sometimes I have bad days but uh mostly it’s I mean you come to the rink you’re playing with your buddies like it’s it’s it should be fun obviously as a player you want to you want to be in the lineup you want to contribute to the team but uh I mean you’re out there you might as well try and get better and and uh I think when you’re playing a game for for uh for your job it’s it’s uh should be a good time so um I think that’s kind of what happens sometimes how about playing with dry Sidle and Orson what how do how do you best complement their skill sets that they whatever they bring to the table as well yeah I think uh I see Leo is uh pretty dominant down the middle um he’s got great vision and um I think as Wing you got to try and um obviously take advantage of the space he creates and then rvy I think he’s been playing great he’s uh he’s got a tremendous amount of speed and he’s uh he’s a handful on the four check so I think um getting in the ozone and and uh and trying to read off those guys is is uh probably the the number one sort of thing kind of going going forward but uh yeah I mean those are two good players I think it’s uh it’s going to be fun to play with them as this group tries to get out of this funk in this four game losing streak has the approach changed at all is there more conversations away from the rink are there more conversations at the rink maybe just let us in uh between the walls here a little bit as you guys try to get out of this yeah I mean I I don’t know uh I mean we always have meetings so even even when we’re we’re going through a good times so um I mean maybe the tone maybe the message I think it it gets tweaked here and there but we we have a veteran group we have guys that have been through ups and downs um and I think that sort of everyone kind of knows what we need to do and um it’s just a matter of going out and doing it

Jeff speaks about returning to the Oilers lineup for a matchup with the Panthers on Thursday in Florida.

  1. True pro with a good attitude. He's playing better and better as the season progresses. I hope Knob will give him more ice time and play him in the top six.

  2. From what i can see, this guy's attitude has been impressively unflappable given how his year has gone – and then, most recently, how baffling Knobs decision to bench him last game was.

Of the flaws he might possess, a bad attitude is definitely NOT one of them.

  3. He's one of the top on the team with goals but yes, lets scratch the guy that scores, has been working hard on his game , great attitude and a great smile!

  4. Let's Goooo 😜Jeff Skinner!!!
    OILERS 💙🧡🤍Let's Go Win 💪This Hockey 🏒🥅Game Against The Floridumb Prancers!!! B e l i e v e!

  5. Jeff has made $100 million dollars in his playing career, he wants to win. To echo the comments you need to salute 🫡 this guys attitude

  6. This guy deserves to play more, benching him all the time isn't fare. Should bench the players that are not playing . Coach needs to speak up more he's to soft towards his players.
