NHL REFEREE Chris Rooney INJURY, BLOOD, HIT IN FACE/EYE by High Stick Niko Mikkola

Right now everybody, the referee Chris Rooney is down. He’s one of the referees on the ice. One of the more known, well-known referees in the National Hockey League as he’s being intended to by the training staff. Oh my gosh. That’s what happened to him. Yikes. took a stick to the face up near his eye and they are going to take him off and down toward the dressing room as hopefully he is okay. But that is what makes hockey, it is a great sport, but also at the same time a dangerous sport as you got to watch out for sticks. Like in this case, anytime a stick comes up right there from Mika follow through. Boom. Right near his right eye. The sticks are a threat. Skates are a threat. and we will keep you up to date here on the status of the referee Chris Rooney tonight. Hello everybody here. Welcome into the truth series. I’m Joey the Truth Wagner with you. Scary moment in game seven between the Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers as the referee Chris Rooney had to be taken off the everybody as he was hit with a high stick in the face up near the eye. Up near his eye, the blood the blood you saw there on the end boards were just gushing out as it is a very scary situation. Trainers came out immediately. They gave him a towel to try to stop the bleeding, covering his face, helping him off the ice as it was the stick of the Florida Panthers defenseman Nico Mika on his follow through that got Rooney up in the face near his right eye. Extremely scary stuff with hockey here as Rooney took the stick up high, left the game and referee Garrett Rank will replace him the rest of the way. At first, the stretcher was on the ice and then they took it off as Rooney was able to skate off in his own power. But thoughts, prayers, speedy, safe recovery to Chris Rooney here after getting hit with a high sick in the face here in game seven.

  1. Hope he didnt get the stick in his eye – NHL sent out an update that Chris Rooney received stitches for a cut above his eye — not in it, thankfully — and is doing well

  2. nice breakdown…. just heard it was above the eye. i took a stick to the eye when i was ten (now 61). the red dot/scar in the white part of my eye is still there. hurt like hell.

  3. Hockey needs to continue to evolve to the point where, if you are on the ice, you MUST be wearing a helmet with a full cage. No more excuses, about it fogging up, can't see, etc… . Commonsense will win.
