@Dallas Stars

I’m shocked he got away with this…

In tonights game 3 of the Winnipeg Jets vs Dallas Stars series, was an odd one to say the least. We had not 1 but 2 instances of the NHL rule book being put to the test in a major way. First, Mason Marchment hit the ref with a small slash after he was frustrated a Mark Scheifele cross check wasn’t called. This, is obviously a major no no as Officials are completely off limits and could easily have been a 10 game suspension according to the rule book. Shortly after though, in the 3rd period Petrovic scored one of the strangest goals of these NHL Playoffs so far when he “kicked” one towards the net that Connor Hellebuyck then put into his own net. It was a wild game and I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. There's a difference between a kick and putting your foot on the puck. The reason there's a no kicking rule is because you can't have blades coming up off the ice. That's pretty gray, I don't really think you take that goal away because his foot didn't come up, it went sideways to meet the puck as he was trying to play it to his own stick. Sometimes in the heat of the moment of an 8 minute review the NHL does a great job of word salad explanations. As for Marchment, that shouldn't be a 10 game suspension. I could see a game misconduct but that's all it should be. The famous hit the linesman from behind with your arms up is what that rule is for.

  2. It doesn’t even look like much of a stick chop to me…could be accidental or just trying to get his attention.
As for kicking the puck, by the letter of the rule it was the right call. But what I don’t like is, it rewards players for trying to kick the puck in and hoping something like this happens. The rule intends to eliminate kicking pucks.

  3. it's a golden rule, you never ever touch a ref. if a ref doesn't call it, there's higher up that should 100% act on this. this send a very very bad messages to the younger folks who think they can get away with it.

NHL is a joke in playoff, we all know it, we all denounce it, yet they do nothing. one day, something bad will happen and they'll act, too late.

  4. We know why it’s happening. It’s because Dallas is scheduled to win the cup so the refs have to let shit go. Somebody should tell the players cuz they aren’t selling it well.

  5. if the ref wanted to call it it was there, clearly. but guys cmon, they wear shin pads and mush tapped him on the shin pad he barely felt anything unlike the slash from behind.

  6. Maybe I'm being biased, but it seems to me that all these controversial calls seem to side against the jets almost all year long. You rarely get one that HELPS the Jets. I get the feeling that the league doesn't want to give this team a fair chance. Considering this team ALREADY is at a disadvantage in trying to get players to play for them as they are probably in the top 3 most unwanted teams to play for since its so cold there and taxes/cost of living is so high in Canada, but then add on that the ref'ing just always seems to NOT help the Jets at every opportunity and it gets pretty frustrating.

  7. Video for clicks. People calling it a slash either dislike the stars or need their eyes checked. Sad

  8. If this had happened in regular season I guarantee Marchment would've gotten 10 game suspension but cuz it's the playoffs they aren't guna do anything….which is kinda bullshit!!?? I really don't like fact that league and refs let guys get away with shit way more in the playoffs!!?? It's not right!!?? If something is a penalty then it's a penalty regardless of time of season and should be called when seen!? If anything refs should be paying more attention to things during playoffs and be making sure to call a fair game and call ANY & ALL penalties they see regardless of time of game and/or score!? If someone commits a penalty and refs see it it needs to be called!!?? It's not right for them to deliberately not call some penalties just cuz of score and them wanting to keep score really close so it's as exciting and super tense as possible!? Like if 1 team is up by 1 in 3rd period and team that's trailing commits a penalty, and refs clearly see it, they'll just not call it that way team that's ahead doesn't get PP chance to extend lead and then it keeps score close and makes game more tense!? But then if team that's ahead does the littlest thing they get called for it immediately that way the team that's trailing is basically gifted a chance to tie up game!!?? It's not right at all!!?? The league and refs shouldn't be influencing outcomes of games in playoffs like that by picking and choosing when and who to call penalties on depending on score and time of game!? It shouldn't matter to refs what time of game it is when call is made or what the score is!? All they should care about is calling a fair game and calling ANY penalties they see whenever they see them!!?

  9. Refs are ruining hockey. They are afraid of making calls and when they do you wonder why they weren’t calling it. Throw the rule book out cause it’s already happened.

  10. Refs are also human and they do know when they do and don’t miss a call. He very well could have let it slide knowing he missed a cross check to the ribs.

  11. No call at all on Marchment, then ruling a goal on a clear KICK. The Jets are clearly being "reffed".

  12. I'm shocked all you haters are making excuses & scared!! Sre losers grasping at straws!!! No fine No suspension…MOVE ALONG! Ref didn't even thini was a problem.
*This guy actually has saidthe players were mad cuz Stars double teamed Connor. 😭🤣🤣🤣 They also said Helly made a play on the puck wih stick. Nine of this mattered cuz the end res was gonn be the same anyway. Sounds like a lot of excuses for losing. 😂😂😂😂😊

  13. I getting pretty tired of Marchment's BS. He's getting out of hand with his sloppy play and bad penalties.

  14. I really do appreciate all these videos and The clarity by which you discuss the topics. I'm a pretty new hockey fan, go panthers, and grateful for the entertaining value of your channel. Keep rocking it buddy!

  15. Bear in mind the refs work for Bettman – and "he" always favours the US teams. He is the reason we have games at 130pm on a Sunday and why we see more 5 on 3s now when there was a time (before Bettman) when that rarely, if ever, happened. But it makes the game more exciting for the US fans and easier to favour one team over another. Bettman is why we now have overtime and shoot-outs – US fans do not want to pay for a game that ends in a tie. An easy way to favour a team is to give penalties to the other squad – it's been going on over the years but has multiplied ever since Bettman took over the NHL. (Remember Dallas' first cup/controversy?) There is a lot of money on the line so cheating is definitely a larger part of the game these days. Oh, well. I can still strap on the old tube skates and play shinny with the grand kids – now THAT'S hockey.

  16. As a Stars fan, I’m more upset they gave us a free goal than giving an official a poke. That rule is soft as all hell. But the free goal, that’s wack. Granted we still would have won that game, that doesn’t make it fair and that’s what matters to me.

  17. If this happened to Montreal, Toronto, or Edmonton, I have to wonder if there would be a bigger stink? I don't think most of the hockey media cares too much for the other half of Canadian hockey, just my opinion.

  18. Him and their so called Captain did that multiple times against the avs because they knew they couldn't win 5 on 5 and the stats show it

  19. The Jets need to get nasty!!!,if they are going down, well then take some Stars out along the way,at least make it a little easier for the Oilers next round!!!

  20. I'm done listening to Jets fans on the kicking thing. First, I haven't seen a camera angle that proves it didn't touch Petrovic's stick after it touched his skate. Second, Hellebuyck actively swung his stick and knocked the puck in goal. Not a deflection.
