Brock Boeser to Boston? | Matthew Knies Offer Sheet?

Brock Boeser to Boston? | Matthew Knies Offer Sheet?

Could Brock Besser become a Boston Bruin next season? He isn’t going to be back in Vancouver next year, and he’s the one that told us. Should the Bruins give an offer sheet to Matthew N? I’m going to discuss both of these topics in today’s video. So, buckle up, Bruins fans. I’m here to give you the latest info on your beloved Boston Bruins. If you’ve been liking my Bruins content, please leave me a like and subscribe. If you’ve already done so, thank you. And let’s get into it. Brock Basser spoke to the media and dropped a bombshell in Vancouver that frankly we all should have seen coming. Brock Basser told the media that he doesn’t expect to return to Vancouver next season. Besser, who is 28 and in the final year of his contract, currently making 6.5 million per season and will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. When he spoke to Sportsnet, Besser had this to say. Honestly, it’s unlikely at this point. It stinks. It’s unfortunate. I’m just trying to play a good hockey. And while then I worry about everything after that, we all know it’s been a roller coaster of a year, there’s been a lot of different things. I don’t even know that Besser is the longest running kuck currently on their roster being in Vancouver since his rookie season in 201617. That’s not a long time. The relationship though hasn’t been sunshine and rainbows throughout his career in Vancouver. Besser added that he isn’t even talking to his agent right now and said, “Yeah, I’m refusing to talk to Hank right now.” He said, “I feel like I’m playing a lot better hockey recently, and I don’t want to get distracted.” That’s one of the things I’ve learned. When there’s distractions, I don’t play my best hockey. The mental aspect of the game is so important. This year, there’s been a lot of distractions. Besser’s contract talks have been a topic of conversation all season in Vancouver, and it’s been a bit of a soap opera. Reminds me a lot of the swaying stuff that we had last summer. Rumors swirled at the trade deadline that he could be on the move. When he talked to the media around the trade deadline, he said, “I mean, I understand it’s a business. I feel like I’m a pretty loyal guy and I feel like I should that should speak for itself. But it’s a business and that’s just how things operate. We all know the three options that could happen before the deadline. Trade, resign, or neither. If nothing happens on July 1 come around, I still think I’m in a good spot as a UFA. But I’ve talked to you and definitely been open about that. You know how much I love it in Vancouver. So yeah, it’s actually frustrating that nothing is going to get done. With all the drama in Vancouver this season, the Besser contract talks just added fuel to the fire and Vancouver had a disappointing season. According to Frank Saravelli from the Daily Face Off, Besser rejected an eight times $5 million offer from the Vancouver Conucks during the season, but it was rumored it was more about the term and not the dollar amount. In 71 games this season, Besser scored 25 goals and tall 24 assists for 49 points. 16 of those goals were on even strength. Besser is known as a power play specialist and would be something the Bruins desperately need. Besser scored 40 goals last season and he has a killer release. He’s a goal scorer through and through and say the Bruins add him this off season they would give him a killer one-two punch on the right side and add more scoring to the lineup that they desperately need. Ty Anderson from the Sports Hub in Boston recently said and so I think they’re going to be big-time players and I look at things like this. The business model isn’t hurting, but if you want to keep this kind of roster, they have season tickets waiting list, but ticket prices in Boston have gone up 13% over the last two years. I believe it’s the second highest in the United States behind Madison Square Garden. So, fans want a reason to come to games. What you have right now is not a reason to come to games. So, I think the star power is really lacking. And for that reason, I expect them to try and make a move for big-time players in free agency because that’s when an ownership gets their eyebrows raised a little bit when the business suffers. and it hasn’t happened yet, but if they roll out of this roster in the fall, it’s going to hurt and it’s going to hurt them in a big way. I have to agree with Tai knowing the Bugan organization that management means it when they say it’s a retool and it wasn’t a coincidence they moved out all their cap space at the trade deadline. I spoke about Marner in a previous video and how I think the Bruins will kick tires in him, but I think Besser is a much more viable option. One of the reasons I say this is because the Bruins tried to require him back in 2021 and had conversations with the Conucks right before the shutdown. The Bruins had a framework of the deal to send Danton Hein and Matt Grizzlick to Vancouver for Brock Basser. Esser has always been in trade chatter around Vancouver and Boston at the time wanted to add his scoring on the right side. When the pandemic hit, it made it very difficult for teams to make trades and the conversation died. But the interest from the Bruins has never gone away. Heck, I’d probably assume that the Bruins tried to kick tires on him on this year’s deadline. The Bruins have $26.2 million in cap space, and I would think they will prioritize signing Geeky, let unrestricted free agents walk, and try and resign Beecher, Husadino, Lao, Mitchell, and Mason Lorai. Those players alone are not taking up the $26 million in cap space. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they try and move on from Corposal this off seasonason and call up one of either Busy or DPro to be the backup after they’re resigned. Neither of those goalies would cost him three million per season like Corposalo does. And I know many people think that he’s been average this year, but to be totally honest, the guy’s been a disappointment through and through, and he really hasn’t been that good. So, they’re probably going to move on from him. Lorai and Geeki are in for another considerable raises next season with Geeki, I think, being the larger of the two. We also don’t know the status of Hampus Lynholm, who didn’t return this season and hasn’t been skating as of late. An injury such as his could take some considerable time to cover, and he could even start next season on LTIR. All of this leaves the Bruins some money to spend, and that’s why I truly don’t think Marner is an option, but Brock Besser is. The cap will continue to grow considerably over the next couple of seasons and will be 113 million by 2027-28. Besser is still relatively young and has an asset the Bruins need, which is scoring punch and help on the power play. He’s a fast skater with a high hockey Q and he’s an underrated passer. Yes, the Bruins need help down the middle, but they also need scoring depth and players that can score 30 goals right now, they don’t grow on trees. I’m sure the Bruins will still check in on Sam Bennett, Brock Nelson, and even Nikolai Elers. I sure hope they even take a serious look at Brock Besser because his play style and scoring punch could help the Bruins next season. Let me know what you think about the whole Brock Besser thing. Would you want him to be signed by the Boston Bruins over the offseason? My next topic is going to be should the Boston Bruins offer sheet Matthew Ny? I’ve thought about this in the past because the Leafs are going to want to sign Miner who won’t be cheap, but you know what? Matthew Ny isn’t going to be cheap either. It wasn’t until I was listening to the What Chaos podcast this morning until they pretty much talked my brain into it. I will leave a link to the episode I’m talking about in the description down below. So, hear me out because I think as Bruins fans, we’ve all seen Matthew N play hockey and I think we can all agree we like the way he plays the game. NY in 74 games this season has 29 goals and 26 assists for 55 points. 24 of those 29 goals this season had been even strength and six of them have been gamewinners. N is a player that isn’t afraid to drive the puck to the net, park his butt in the crease, or muck it up in the corners. He’s 6’3, 227 pounds, and is one of the best young power forwards in the league. Players like NY are usually locked up on long-term contracts, and teams covet his play style. The Toronto Maple Leafs have a projected cap space of 27.4 million. And while they don’t have a bunch of players they need to resign, the guys they do need to resign, they carry a big price tag. Notable names are Mitch Marner, John Tavvaris, and Matthew N. Now, 27 million should be enough if they want to bring all these players back. But what if a team decides to offer sheet Matthew Ny and mess that all up? I wouldn’t even be surprised if a team that is serious about taking a run at Mitch Marner this offseason gives an offer sheet to NY to price out the Leafs on Mner. N only makes 925,000 and is only 23 years old, but his potential is as high as they become and he’s become a key piece for the Maple Leaf success. If you want to know how an offer sheet works, here’s a brief explanation of offer sheets and compensations. We saw this off seasonason that offer sheets work as St. Louis did a masterclass against the Edmonton Oilers and got Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg who by the way have been huge pieces for the St. Louis Blues this season. When a team offer sheets a player, they usually have to overpay a slight amount to get said player because you don’t want that current team to be able to match. In the case of Broberg, the Blues offered him 4.5 million per season over two years and the Oilers pretty much couldn’t match at the time. Even myself thought this was a huge overpay and it turned out not to be the case at all. All the Blues had to give Edmonton in compensation was a second round pick for Broberg based on the salary, which is a huge steal. The compensation for a player is based on the AAV a player receives. In the case of NY, as discussed on what Chaos, you’re probably looking at around 9 million per year range to either price out the Leafs or they match and they price themselves out of Mitch Marner in the process. The compensation for a $9 million per year contract is a first, a second, and a third round pick in 2026. The Bruins have all those things, which in the past they would have not. And the list of teams that do is also limited. The Bruins though would have to look at it one way and decide, are they going to be bad again next season if they get Matthew N because the 2026 draft is the Gavin McKinnon draft and their first round pick could turn into him. I’m sure some are already saying that it is a huge overpay for 9 million for NY. And you might be right, but next year’s salary based on his age comparables would be around $7.5 to $9 million range, especially with the cap going up considerably over the next couple years. Roe Hint just signed an $ 8.4 million contract in Dallas and he’s in a no tax state. Salaries are going up, which means fans will complain about them more, but it is what it is at this point. The real question for the Bruins, does the risk outweigh the reward? If the Leafs match, they have made a division rival have to overpay for a player now that in the end won’t be an overpay, but the Leafs will possibly make them not be able to resign Mitch Mner. That would make the Leafs weaker next season and an advantage for the Boston Bruins. If the Leafs don’t match it and the Bruins get NY, does that upgrade on the wing enough to propel them back into the playoffs? Which means N plays left wing and would instantly upgrade you on the left side. So now as long as he resigns and you have a one-two punch of Geeky and N, you would still have room to possibly upgrade on the right side behind Pastanak. Probably not Brock Besser, though. You wouldn’t be in on highric free agents like Besser Bennett or even bring back Marshian unless he takes a team friendly deal, which I doubt he will. But you would have your next elite power forward for the foreseeable future. Matthew Ny is a huge upgrade and I think I would take the gamble on it. But I want to know would if you were the GM of the Boston Bruins, would you take the gamble on offer sheeting Matthew N? I want to leave you off with something I saw last night that kind of brought a smile to my face. Brad Marshian got his first goal as a Florida Panther and it made me smile. Marianne was a constant warrior for the Boston Bruins over his career and I truly hope he is back next season. to see him score in another jersey I thought would bother me, but instead it made me smile. So, I hope it does the same for you. And honestly, I hope he wins the cup this summer. That’s a wrap on today’s video. 1. Ticket prices, and don't forget parking! $50 or so for game nights.
Eat? Drink? The Garden is painfully expensive.

I can go to another town, stay overnight, and see a gem, cheaper than going into the TD Garden

  2. I'd take either Marner, or Kneis

I was Happy for Marchand, too! I'd still like to see him back in Black n Gold, tho.
But the B's would ahve to pay. I beleive they've upset that apple cart.

  3. I wouldn’t offer sheet knies he plays with matthews and marner his stat sheet is inflated in my opinion he’s a good player but offering a guy 8-9 million after his first great season where he plays with two superstars is very risky

  4. I think Knies would be a better fit than Boeser but if they landed Boeser… I wouldn't complain. I just hope that Geekie doesn't look at Lindholm's contract and think he should get paid in the 8 or 9 AAV range. I hope Geekie gets a well-deserved raise, but that he also stays realistic because he has more to prove and he hopefully loves playing with Pasta enough to maybe sign a 3 or 4 year deal at 5 to 6 AAV

  5. Neither will happen Knies for obvious reasons and Boeser is asking for too much probably north of 8 million

  6. I was kinda hoping to see Brad take on Ullmark in the playoffs.

And if Boston did sign both knives and Brock, that would just be unfair For the rest of us.

    Take care my friend.

  7. I don’t think Boston has ever sent out an offer sheet. I never recall them ever doing it. I don’t think they’ll start now either especially with Sweeney.

  8. Our pick will be too good next year to send it away in an offer sheet. And Sweeney and Neely think of themselves as gentleman and wouldn't do it anyways

  9. I am in Windsor where DiPietro is from and somebody told me he is unrestrictred this year even though he is only 26 because he is playing in the AHL(not sure if thats true), would like them to ring him up but he hasn't really been tested much in the NHL… I also can't bring myself to watch any thing of Marchand in a Florida uniform

  10. Boeser has been really good the last ten games but he is 25 goal/ 50 point guy. He turned down 8×5 from Vancouver and hes going to want to be paid for the 40 goals he got Last year. He wants a deal that takes him to 36 yrs old. He can put up geekie numbers for twice the price if hes playing with Pasta. If we sign Marner and then Boeser im ok with it but tbh i dont want to be last years Vancouver Canucks unless were getting Quinn Hughes. I live in BC and have seen this guy play a lot, and im wary. Same with eihlers. No NMC at all if we sign them. I would rather offer sheet Knies but am not willing to gamble next years first rd pick. This team needs more work then people think…..

  11. Good post. . 15 million for three Brock Boeser types probably better than 15 for One Marner. Knies looks great but two concussions that we've seen make me cautious about trying to overpay steal him. But I like the thinking process. 9 per would get it done maybe

  12. Yes let’s bring in a bunch of vets on massive FA overpays. Because that worked so well for Nashville and Pittsburgh!!

  13. I can't imagine the Leafs wouldn't match any offer sheet given. Boeser is an interesting option, although coming back home to Minnesota seems more likely. I wouldn't object to seeing him in the spoked B, even if his production is probably not going to be what it was last season.

  14. I want the Bruins to take this time to fix their prospect situation. I think they could use a couple down seasons to get some top picks and keep the team good for years. I think they should consider spending only what they need to spend for this next year and figure out what they have and need by seeing extensive play from younger guys. A couple years of high picks would not kill them or us. Boohoo they might lose a few percent of their revenue, but they would probably make it up by setting the team up long term. I feel spending a bunch of cap space on older guys is just going to elongate the problem and instead of a down year or three we end up with a decade long relationship with mediocre at best. As a Steelers fan, I am quite familiar with this approach to team management, and I do not like it much.

  15. I was just thinking about Boeser the other day. I think he would be good on the bruins, however he doesn't drive play and someone like E.Lindholm needs line mates who drive play.

  16. Yes to Knies, from the first time I saw him I thought he was a Bruin. In the same ilk as Gallagher and Boone Jenner.
I disagree on Korpisalo, I think he has been good this year, on a very bad team. I have no problem moving him though, and was surprised someone like Carolina or Edmonton didn't show interest. Carolina hasn't shown they know anything about goaltending in years. They lost the series vs the Rags due to Rod not having the balls to put the kid in.
I still think a HUGE issue is Hampus. If he's not back, we are screwed.

  17. Why do you think Brad wouldn't take a team friendly deal? And if he did come back would he still be the captain?

  18. Best of luck to Boeser. Knies is a good player. I am not sure if Toronto will let him go. Buffalo has 8 centres one might be in Vancouver.

  19. BOESER? No! The Bruins need to rebuild with talented and promising young talent. And I'm sick of trading with Vancouver! Of all the NHL teams, it seems Neely only knows the one in his hometown (and the one that originally drafted him).

KNIES? Right away! Young. Physical player, good skating, good hands. Very good potential.

  20. No brainer to offer sheet Knies. A $9 million 5 year contract would only cost a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd round pick. A slight overpay for the first couple years and a steal in the last 2. At worst the Leafs match and they eat up their salary cap – still a win.

  21. Id rather have marner than boeser. That way elias lindholm can be a #1 center with two #1 wingers on the top line

  22. Bruins fan masquerading as a Leafs fan here. Knies to the B's would be awesome, he's fit right into the mold. You'd tear the heart out of alot of Leafs fans, this one included.

  23. No more western conference players..we need guys from the East that know how to mix it up and score!

  24. Leafs are gonna resign him. You guys keep dreaming, but you guys are thinking that you're gonna sign marner, too. If Matthew is a true leaf, he won't go to Boston don't matter if there's an offer sheet or not this day n age player's can say they refuse to play for certin team's. It happen to the flyers. Jason spessa leafs put him on waivers he said any team's claim him he would retire. Leafs did that to make cap space for trade deadline few year's ago he got assigned to all but stay with the leafs

  25. Knows has a ton of production, but look who he’s playing with. He won’t be playing with that level of talent in Boston.

  26. Personally i like to see Draft Misa & sign Boeser keep guys like geekie beecher lauko koepke. And pray you can use your 26 1st round pick on McKenna. Ditch Potrais Middlestadt Wotherspoon & Korpisalo.

    Pasta Lindholm Geekie

    Zacha Misa Boeser

    Lauko Minten Lysell / Letteri?
    Lastly
    Beecher Kastelic Koepke

See how the D plays out due to the injuries Goaltending Swayman Bussi.

  27. I'm sorry, I realize Marner is an incredible offensive player, but I've watched him absolutely disappear in the playoffs wayyyyyyyy too many times for me to even entertain adding him if I'm Sweeney.

  28. Also, I 100% hope Marchand wins the cup too this year (doesn't hurt that, as an American hockey fan, Four Nations turned me into the biggest Tkachuk stan on the planet). And I was for sure happy for Marchand when he scored. But seeing him score while wearing another team's sweater filled me with sadness and rage haha.

If by some miracle he's back next year after helping Florida make it to at least the third round thus turning the second we got for him into a first, all will be forgiven. But if all of that doesn't happen, goodbye Sweens.

  29. I do not understand the love for Lohrei…a talented offensive guy, and huge defensive liability. When ever there is a breakaway or 2 on 1 you can count on Lohrei having been burned allowing it to happen. Geekie should be re-signed, move Lohrei to wing or get rid of him – terrible. You make it sound like signing Boeser makes Boston an immediate contender…no way. Boeser isn't going to make any difference, Boston has ONE guy who can score, and we all know who that is – after him, Bruins scoring goes off a cliff. Re-sign Khusnutdinov.
You hear that buzzing? It's your alarm clock going off – you've been dreaming of Knies in a B's sweater…not happening…
NEITHER G has been that good – mostly because the horrendous D in front of them. Teams have no problem moving the puck in and setting up shop right in front of EITHER goalie. Korpisalo has played as well as Swayman has (sometimes better) and Swayman's making 3 x as much – which isn't good.
Forget Boston re-signing a couple scrubs or 4th-line players – that ain't going to move the needle on a team this devoid of talent. They need to START with the front office – get Sweeny and Neely out of there, replace them with someone who can identify TALENT, those two can't.

  30. If the Bruins want to trade a first, second, and third and overpay for Knies in a long-term contract, ultimately, the Leafs would win that deal all day long. The Leafs would have happily made that trade at the deadline.

  31. JT's11 million coming off the books and that is the money needed to sign Knies and according to Chris Johnston he wants to remain a Leaf. Bruin's management can sign John Teveres or Mitch Marner? Calolina wanted Knies and picks for Rantanen but Leafs GM rejected the trade. Bruins have own cap issues signing swayman to almost 9 Million, McAvoy 10 Million both Lindholm's for almost 15 Million, Pasta 11 Million. Bruins couldn't afford Marchand @ 6 Million and then Brad said "I will take a pay cut. How can you afford Knies?

  32. Mason Lohrei – John Beecher and Morgan Geekie will all need raises but maybe leafs Pontus Homberg might be offersheeted by Bruins?
