The Haslam Sports Group, owners of the Cleveland Browns, told Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne on Thursday that it is “not relying on the County’s participation to execute” its plan for a domed stadium and mixed-use development in Brook Park.
In a two-page letter to Ronayne, HSG Chief Operating Officer Dave Jenkins took the county executive to task for “communicating misleading information” about the $3.4 billion project. He also termed Ronayne’s opposition to the plan as “truly disheartening.”
“It is truly disheartening to see you, as County Executive, actively work against a potential $600 million investment from the State that would be paired with $2 billion+ in private investment for an unprecedented $3 billion+ economic development project centrally located in Cuyahoga County,” Jenkins wrote. “These are the types of inexplicable decisions that keep the Greater Cleveland region from thriving, while other regions like Columbus and Cincinnati continue to grow and evolve.”
Jenkins laid out 10 bullet-pointed reasons why HSG believes that a domed stadium for the Browns is the best long-term solution for the region, but added the below message to emphasize that the Haslams are prepared to move forward with — or without — participation from Ronayne and Cuyahoga County.
“To further clear up misinformation, while we have not given up on our elusive goal of local unity, and the upside for the public is far greater with the County’s partnership, we remain undeterred and are not relying on the County’s participation to execute this project.”

Haslem's contributions to Ohio republican state house and senate candidates and PAC's paid off for him!!!….600 million dollars of taxpayers money.
Browns need a stadium. That lake effect makes QBs look like crap.
Buy your own expensive toys spoiled Rich man. Don't make the innocent tax payers buy things for you.
God I hate Haslam man.
I thought the $600M was a bond so the state will get their money back with some interest?
Socialism for billionaires, high interest rate capitalism for the rest of us
Jimmy Haslam sponsors gerrymandering
Personally I would have rather kept the stadium in Cleveland. Even without the county giving the BILLIONAIRE money, the profit the city will lose from the stadium moving will be massive.
That said the BILLIONAIRE can build his stadium in Akron for all I care, I just don't want to pay for it.
I can think of several places the state could use $600 million dollars and not a single one lf them is financing BILLIONAIRES.
Good for Jimmy! Bring us a dome. The city is ass backwards. Open stadiums are dinosaurs. Who the hell wants to freeze their asses off watching football. Plus we gain more events. Waste of money to have a stadium sitting unused majority of the time
Bibb was posturing the entire time. Jimmy got Shaduer lol. That was 1000% him.
I've never been to a Browns game and now with a new stadium coming it'll never happen because those tickets are going to be extremely high and it'll outprice the casual fan.
I'll probably take pictures of it when I see it up close and that'll be the closest I'll get to walking into it.
U aint buying no dome unless u got shadour sanders to recoup the $ 😂😂😂😂 legendary next thing can i see a logo on the helmets
Glad to see the County standing firm and not getting railroaded by the NFL. If the State of Ohio is willing to borrow $600 million to lend to the Browns, then that's up to them. Let the whole State take that risk. Haslam can afford to pay for it all and doesn't need our County or the City of Cleveland's money. Great! In any case, I suspect the cost for the project is going to be much higher given the tariffs that are in place now.
Zero chance I go to a doomed stadium outside of downtown. Major reason I moved to Cleveland was downtown football, basketball and baseball.
Cleveland is a Democrat shithole. I'd get the hell out of there too.
Haslam donated heavily against anti-gerrymandering and now he gets his payoff
Terrible news for Cleveland and y’all are celebrating. 🤡
He is just another rich republican scumbag.
And this stadium is another reason the owner said draft Sheduer….. Sheduer generates millions and he’s bringing a lot fans who have money to spend in Cleveland and the surrounding areas. Sheduer’s likeness can generate millions quicker then any player on the browns.
The locals might disagree right now but during football season and beyond that new stadium can be used for other events beyond football games.
The state should demand a cut of the profits from this stadium complex. Haslam is going to just rake in the money. I just wish the “dome” didn’t look like an industrial park. Whatever entity approved the design certainly wasn’t looking to do as well or better than SoFi Stadium.
Jimmy doesn't have the right politicians, he's got politicians ON the right.
It’s disgusting watching Lloyd and Bush defend this. The state shouldn’t fund one penny of this. Bonds or not.
Great job Jimmy. I can't wait to fly back to visit my family and check out a new Domed stadium. Let's Go Browns.
Business man is always a business man, dude being alive longer then that mayor in Cleveland to know the in and out of political affairs, Jimmy won
Cleveland is a dumpster fire. They could have acted years ago. But with bottom shelf politicians this is what happens. Poor planning is the man reason model moved. Moving the stadium 15 min away to have a dime makes sense.
Goodbye Factory of Sadness and hello Brookpark Browns
BIG BANK takes little bank. END OF STORY
G Bush has literally no clue about what he’s ever discussing
That 600milion number is a lie what they did was break it uo in two parts to fool the taxpayers there is an additional 600 M going to Brookpark for the " BROWNS staduim infrastructe" so please dont believe this lie.
What it is it's Welfare for a Billionaire. Take a family of four to a game in the new stadium it'd average from 1600 ro 2000 dollars well out of the range for your average Browns fan.
G is telling the truth what he saying what we all know is Jimmy bought and paid for his Columbus Republican poloticans.
Thank you Jay for maning up and telling the truth your alone in that we thank you. Tax the gambling is still a tax taken from ohio citizens. Kep taxing gambling the returns lessen which starts the slow death of that business.
