  1. Niklas Hjalmarsson was the best defensive defensemen for a decade straight, Hjammer was the true #2 defender but bc Seabrook was paired w Keith he's overlooked by a lot of people, every time the core group gets named its "Kane, Toews, Hossa, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook, maybe Crawford" but Hjalmarrson played a way more pivot role then Seabrook.

Every time we mention him in chat the chat goes wild but the NHL nor Blackhawks ever acknowledge him and Jay & Mario certainly dont make half a show about the actual disrespect here, its gross.

    Where's the Hjalmarsson love???

  2. Is ehlers or boeser worth 10.5mx6/7 I don’t think so. I get we want help for bedard now and we have a lot of cap space but overpaying for someone now only leads to less depth down the road and less room to sign these young guys. I’d rather be a team like Tampa or Florida then Toronto. Build in the draft and sign a big name free agent when we’re ready to take that next step.

  3. The answer is you don't trade the pick. Forwards are still needed. You still need guys that will be under team control for many years.

  4. The club needs to scratch NHL .500 to save this regime and its plan. I look for aggression and urgency this offseason.

  5. Toews, I'm okay with because he doesn't have a scoring title or MVP or multiple selkes or the points for a centerman that the others had, but Keith is arguably the best 2 or 3 defenseman whose career spanned the majority or all of the last 25 years. I'd put Makar and Lidstrom for sure above him. Doughty, Hedman, and maybe Chara might be the ones who you could argue he is on that tier.

  6. If the Blackhawks don't come out of the offseason with Marner and Bennet or ekblad I don't see them even making the playoffs with improvement in the roster. Bedard would need to be a 100 point guy with another 2-3 of these younger guys jumping up to the 70-85 point range while also getting extremely better defensive and a goalie really holding down the crease. They are still 2 years off from being competitive and even then, some of these other young guys gotta become Brayden Point or Mitch Marner or even a guy like Patrick Sharp back in the day. The only player on the Sabres i would give up the 3rd overall for would be Tage Thompson and the Sabres wouldn't do that.
Next year there is a lot of good players, if they can't get Marner they should just save money for the year after where Kaprizov, Eichel, Necas, Connor, McDavid (but he won't be a FA) and I would trade the 3rd overall for Kaprizov.

  7. I've been sold on Michael Misa all season so I hope he either falls to the Hawks at #3 or Davidson moves up to take him.. I mean you'd figure the 3rd overall pick and the Hawks 3rd rounder (65th overall?) would be enough to move up one spot to grab him.. Misa is exactly what the Hawks need going forward at this point in the rebuild and it would be foolish to not trade up to draft him if the price is only a 3rd round pick considering the plethora of assets the Hawks own.. And presumably the Hawks spent quality time and plenty of resources scouting the kid knowing they'd be picking top 5 again (and 2nd overall for the past couple of months) – so if Misa was the guy the Hawks were set on taking at 2nd overall (or Shaffer if he fell), then hopefully they stick to the plan and toss in the 65th overall pick to move up to 2nd overall instead of doing nothing and waiting to see who's available at 3rd overall.

I mean, I'd be really disappointed if Misa's not a Chicago Blackhawk next month.

As far as UFA's and Mitch Marner – if you're Davidson it may be worth a pick to acquire Marner's negotiating rights at the draft just to get a head start and see if Marner has any interest in Chicago, because if he doesn't – at least Davidson will know he needs to explore other options, like Patrick Kane.. And Patrick Kane makes a lot of sense for so many reasons, because the last thing I want to see Davidson do is sign the wrong players to long-term deals because they happen to be available and they "may" be a fit when Davidson can sign Kane to a 2-3 year relatively affordable deal which will give Davidson time to find a guy that would be an ideal fit for this team now and in the future… I mean, with Kane we know what we're getting, and there is no doubt I think Kane and Bedard would look awfully good together – not only that – but it's the centennial and it would only be right for Kane to score his 500th goal with the Hawks like it should be… Now obviously Kane scoring 500 and finishing his career in Chicago and the whole nostalgia aspect isn't why you sign him – you sign him because you know what you're getting, and he's the perfect fit for Bedard until a longer term solution can be signed or acquired via trade… Now of course there are younger players available, however the worst mistake a GM can do is start signing guys "just to do something" to improve the team on paper while creating a nightmare in practice – think Seth Jones all over again, lol… I mean, if the Hawks WERE to sign a guy to a long(er)-term deal NOT named Marner this summer Brad Marchand would certainly be something interesting considering the Hawks could use both the skill and the energy he brings.

  8. Don’t overpay for free agents Take your picks this year. Probably accept you won’t have an amazing 2025-2026 year. And load up for a stacked 2026 draft class

  9. Gotta weaponize our cap space. NY has zero cap space and 3 of their own solid RFAs to sign. Ils trade us Lee and save 7mil/ to sign RFA Holmstrom/Dobson/Tsyplakov
GMKD has used our cap space several times to acquire players WITHOUT giving up our propects.

  10. Lundqvist's Goals Saved Above Expected numbers are 5x Crawford's despite the Rangers giving up more scoring chances per game than the Blackhawks during their careers. The quarter century list is bonkers but "Lundqvist vs Crawford" isn't the battle to pick

  11. Would've been nice to hear the CHGO team re-address their Coach Q comments. I'm not saying apologize, but address the facts. For those who haven't heard the 32 thoughts podcast, it is now abundantly clear that both Anaheim and Q spoke with both Brad Aldrich victims several times and one of the victims was actually at the press conference to show support for Q. It is clear that Q has made numerous efforts to reach to both of the victims and has established a relationship with them. I'm not saying what Q did back in 09-10 was right, but people can and do change. This podcast wanted to through Q straight into he'll as if he was the one committing the sexual assaults, but I think he has learned much from this incident. Coach Q is an outstanding coach, to think he can't also learn and improve from this event is just foolish. I'm happy for Q and excited to see what he can do with the Ducks. Hopefully we won't have to play them in the playoffs

  12. See if you can tempt the Islanders with the number three overall pick and possibly one or both of your second round picks. The islanders might be enticed by getting both Schaeffer and Hagens.
