  1. Now I understand that NYI likely won't trade down to #2. I'm a world where they do, what would you be willing to trade up, vs what do you think the reality price to trade up would be?

  2. I really don't think the FloHockey pipedream is going to be true, especially the idea of Misa going 5th overall, but i mean, we're only one year out from Demidov going 5th to Montreal, so i suppose similar things have happened.

  3. if the draft somehow falls to Brzusevich and Fiddler both there at 28/29, the Sharks will (should) trade up to get them both. The Ottawa 2nd + 33rd pick would be overkill to move to 28/29, but for a team needing a RHD pipeline, that'd be ideal. That said, I suspect Fiddler, Hensler are long gone. RHD in short supply in almost everyone's pipeline.

As for the Isles drafting Hagens at 1st overall, I just can't see it. I CAN see them trading down with Chicago, getting one of their better d-men (Vlasic?) and taking Hagens at 3rd overall. If CHI moves up, I think they take Misa, Sharks take Schaefer and Hagens goes to NYI. The Isles are an OK team, but a weak pipeline. So filling 2 spots in this draft makes some sense. Good LHD now + 1st line C (probably arrives after next NCAA season). They aren't really in a rebuild situation.

  4. It’s either Schaefer or miss. What about Dallas pick in first round and the first pick in the second round. The sharks are stacking the prospects and this will make its way to the sharks

  5. MISA isn’t going 5 and Hagen isn’t going #1….. wishful thinking…..Schaefer is the dude. Either way…. Sharks don’t lose either way…. They can get a top defenseman in FA. It’s all good.

  6. Why not run Malik, Smith and Misa as the top 3 centers? Surround them with musty, Bystdt, Igor, ecklund, taffoli, would be similar to the Vegas Knights first year run to the Cup

  7. Nashville needs a RHD and Fiddler was born there. Unfortunate for Sharks fans but no way they pass up on him with Tampa's pick

  8. I think some team in the top 10 will trade up or down a bit but it won’t be the Sharks. The goal was top-2 and they got it. At least with the Ducks down at #10 this year, those bozos can’t blow up the board in the first 10 minutes yet again.

With trendy a lot of risers like Martin and Nesbit, someone has to fall. But I’d be still be shocked if Fiddler is available in the late 20s.

  9. From all of the Youtubers I have watched, there is not too much of a difference in skill/value from Shaefer and Misa. If the Islanders want Hagens, Sharks want Shaefer, and Chicago wants Misa, maybe a 3 way trade? Both Sharks and the Blackhawks could give a little something to the Islanders for the move up. Not sure what that would be from each team, but as a Sharks fan, I would not want to give the Dallas pick. Would rather we just take Misa if the Islanders don't, or Shafer if available.

  10. Thanks for the fun episode JD! I liked the look at all these mock draft's and was surprised by the Ellis draft where he had the Sharks taking a 5 foot 8 inch RW that does not play much defense. As you stated, not gonna happen unless GMMG drastically changes his 'modus operandum' from the last two drafts.

I do think the two defensemen (Fiddler and Brzustewicz) with the Dallas pick would be great if they do not get Schaefer. I favor Fiddler of the two but as you stated they have most likely scouted Brzustewicz intensely with Dickinson and Haltunnen on the team. Whoever GMMG chooses, I am sure they will be a very good prospect (middle pair defenseman or middle six forward).

But like you, I am not sure they even make this pick. Depending on what GMMG does with trades I think it is possible one of the second round picks may be moved as well.. If the Sharks are able to land Schaefer (if he slips) then I can see them getting a forward like you mentioned Bill Zonnen.

I still like a lot of prospects you mentioned in earlier podcasts with the Dallas pick. I think GMMG will have a lot of good prospects to choose from and am excited to see what happens between now and training camp.

  11. Wondering if 33 Overall, Filip Bystedt, Kasper Haltunnen and 2026 2nd is enough to get to 9-11. Got eyes on Eklund Jackson-Smith and Mrtka.

  12. I actually think the Islanders pick could hinge upon what they think they can do with Dobson.

  13. As an Islander fan, I’ll tell you, you Sharks fans couldn’t be luckier. If a team had to jump in front of you in a lottery, it’s the Islanders. The team is so inept. I’m confident you’ll get your player. Any other team would take Schaefer. I strongly believe you’ll get Schaefer, the Hawks will get Misa, because the Islanders will pass on both of them. You guys are building a great team.

  14. With the 2nd overall pick:
    a) Schaefer if he is still available;
    b) Misa, if Schaefer is not available.

    Anything else is ridiculous.
