The Oilers are the hardest out in sports
The Oilers haven’t won a championship, so I can’t say they have the Tom Brady thing, but they are, I think, at the very least the hardest out in hockey. Okay, let’s begin with I don’t know, uh, the Edmonton Oilers. I’m having a really, really, really hard time not feeling the magic. And I’ve said already that this team has broken my brain to when they fall behind in a game. I’m like, uh, it’s going to be okay. At least last night, I was resigned to them losing for the first time in a million years. And they still win. I think it’s technically not a comeback win. Would that be right? It is a comeback win. Yeah, it it is a So if you lose at if you’re trailing at any point, it’s a comeback win. I think so. Yeah. Yeah. I uh so I would think it would mean that you are trailing take the lead don’t relinquish it because they were trailing took the lead which is their want and uh then they blew it blow a two-goal lead in the third period on a night in which their goalie is unbelievable their goalie has we’ll say a a poor decision and they have nothing going from their two best players. Conor McDavid was he he was his automatic zone entry self and then he would lose the puck. Leon Dryidle unbelievably quiet. The Vegas Golden Knights outplayed them handily in the third period and overtime. And when all is said and done, what happened Vegas Golden Knights, McDavid and Dryidle. This should be so demoralizing for the Golden Knights. And if you’re an Oilers bobo like me, it’s very very hard to not feel like there’s magic happening. I I think you got to at this point like there’s there’s you got to feel the magic and it’s for everybody else the thought has to be like how do they keep getting away with this? It’s the Jesse Pinkman can’t keep getting away with this meme. That’s the Oilers this year like in this playoffs. It’s unbelievable that they keep getting away with this. And I mean as an in your defense DJ as an Oilers bobo I would say I am not. and Pete and I both had the same we had the conversation this morning that like they’re going to win the Stanley Cup. It’s just going to happen. They’re the Oilers. I think they might win the Stanley Cup, boys. And it’s going to be like the most insane if they do win the Stanley Cup. It is going to be the most insane story for a team winning the Stanley Cup. They’re going to go down three nothing and then finish it this time. Somehow it’s going to be crazier than them winning it last year. They won it last year. We have expertise in this space. Specifically, Sean, are the Oilers the hard are the Oilers the toughest out in sports? The toughest out in sports. There’s one I mean I think the Chiefs first, but I mean because the Chiefs have like the leftover Tom Brady thing and the Oilers don’t have the Tom Brady thing because Tom Brady it’s like if it’s close he’s just going to beat you in the end. The Oilers haven’t won a championship, so I can’t say they have the Tom Brady thing, but they are, I think, at the very least the hardest out in hockey. They I would say they I wouldn’t say they’re the toughest out because teams like like the Dodgers, like super teams exist, but they are the toughest out in like games where they should be out. Like they’re the toughest team to beat even when you should be like the Dodgers you go up against like a best players in the world. You’re not going to beat that team. But even if like you’re kicking the Oilers ass, they still somehow find a way to win games. And that they’re never dead. I mean, even in they have two losses this postseason, they certainly deserved to lose both of those games. But remember game one, they’re down 4 nothing. And were it not for a kind of fluky bounce, they go to overtime in that game or they win that game in regular. Like even the games that they clearly clearly get walked, they come back. I mean, they don’t die. They are essentially like a zombie. They’re they’re like one of those zombies where you have to put one in the brain. Yeah, you have to put one in the brain because you can unload on the body and it looks like they’re down, but they will get back up. They’re crawlers. It’s just they they just are creeping around at all times. Got Got to put one in the brain. Okay, there are so many things from this game that we have to discuss. And uh quickly I say we start with goalending because this is a weird one for me. in overtime. I was noting that while this was probably his best game of the postseason, this could be the first time that a goalie lost the Oilers a game because in the third period in a one-goal game, Tomas Hurdle falls on Calvin Pickard’s leg. Uh I think it was Koulak who threw him into him. So like no harm, no foul. Harm being that it hurt Calvin Pickard. Clearly he had something going on. He was trying to stretch it out. couldn’t really move really well. Oilers were in the midst of a stretch where they’d been hemmed in for like 10 minutes basically by the Golden Knights and Pickard was offered a whistle and he No, I’m I’m good. I’m good. And immediately lets up a goal. I liked the I like I like the the mindset, but in that moment you there needs to be some in-game awareness. He doesn’t show it. He allows a goal and Jesus [ __ ] Christ. However, that [ __ ] and you were kind of saying that it was coming when we were watching overtime. That [ __ ] is what gave him the opportunity to say I’m Ke I’m Ken Dryden now because that was a dominant performance from Calvin Pickard. One of the there have been many games where you’re like, wow. Like Calvin Pickard is good. He doesn’t have good numbers this postseason. hasn’t played well, but they’ve won in spite of him. He I still think is like an 893 892. 8 even worse. I only know that because uh Sportsnet tweeted out a graphic of him last night that said Calvin Pickard is him and it was 60 and0 uh like three point it was like 2 something.93 goals against average and an 892 save percentage. The best. Incredible. What a guy. But it’s a weird back and it it goes back to like the Oilers just are gonna win no matter what that there can be that moment where I was being dramatic. I was saying it was his Jim Hiller moment. And if they lost that game, I’d be you bet your ass I’d be saying today it was a Jim Hiller moment. Yeah. But but it gave him the opportunity to and you were saying you were like, “Well, he could win them the game now.” And I was like, Peter, he can only lose them the game. No, I didn’t say he could win them the game. I I said he gave them a chance to win in overtime because he made a couple unbelievable stops in overtime. And honestly, like I excused him not taking himself out of the game or calling for the whistle. Apologies. I excuse him not calling for the whistle, which was a bad decision. It was objectively a bad decision at the time, but I believe that he was he didn’t want the whistle because he didn’t want to cast any doubt on whether he could play. Stu was reaching for you see Stu was like getting his helmet and [ __ ] D was getting a little horny on the bench. And I think Pickard’s probably got like still got that backup goalender mindset where he’s like, I got to keep this [ __ ] and like I got to play and hold on to this net and I can’t do anything that allows the net to go back to Sue Skinner. So that’s why I excuse. Katie O’Keefe says, “DJ, I believe you said uh you’re a bad teammate, man.” I believe I said that. I probably said that. Here’s a question. Is there any that could have if if he had come out of that game, is there anything that could have happened or that Stuart Skinner could have done that would have actually taken the net away from Calvin Pickard that would have forced Knoblock to start Jeff Skinner in the next game? Uh Steuart Skinner in the next game. Yes, he Knobblock is a creature of habit and I mean one of his habits is always changing his lines, but if he has something that he thinks is working, he’s going to stick with it. And a secret thing I’ve been doing in my brain is I’ve been counting how many games does Steuart Skinner need to win in this series? Like how many wins do they need to get from Steuart Skinner? And every time Calvin Pickard wins a game, that number decreases by one. That’s math that all of us can do. I I honestly think that like we shouldn’t even be thinking of Steuart Skinner after after last night. After last night, it is. And I know that people were saying it after like his first start, but they’re idiots. After last night, if if we’re late on this, that’s fine. It’s Calvin Pickard’s net. It is Calvin Pickard’s net. Shout out that con my future. I have that will change. I think that will change. Maybe. I don’t think I don’t think they’ll have time for it to change. But do we think they’re going to lose another game at this point? No, that’s got like I think if they’re I think if they’re changing, they’re going to I think at this point if they change their goal, they’re going to lose a series. bigger point here is I think we need to revisit the conversation we had before the series started in which we kind of like scoffed at a question you asked was do the Oilers have the goalending advantage in the series and and I still side with my the spirit of my argument which was I kind of scoffed at the question I said definitely not because the Vegas Golden Knights have a higher ceiling on their goalending which I still believe to be true but Aiden Hill has not been good in this series and Calvin Pickard, I would say, has been better than expected in the series. Yes. And credit where it’s due, overtime, Jake Walman saved uh a wraparound goal, but there were breaks all over the place. I mean, we could talk about the uh definitely the Arvdson trip that I’ll be honest, I completely missed all of like don’t watch our live stream. Speaking of scoffing there, people wanted a penalty here. Yeah. Yeah. But but none of us were like, “Oh god, how do you miss that?” And then once I saw it and looked at the stick, I was like, “Oh.” Because I in real time, I was like, he there wasn’t a hit. He didn’t throw like they just went into the he went into the boards fast. Then I see the trip. And that’s why I’m not a ref. I honestly when we do the overtime streams, we have to listen like basically on mute or like very low volume. I assumed that they called the penalty and then when they didn’t and when people were like how did they not call the penalty I was like that’s a great question because I mean like I I assumed obviously with the injury but I also assumed that there was a penalty call there. I I didn’t but I missed it like didn’t what wasn’t looking at the stick saw the stick obvious penalty obvious missed call I uh I know that yesterday we talked about the refs and if if you want to complain about the refs that is fine you may do that is a horrible horrible break for the Golden Knights I saw Kevin Bexa who was kind of saying like yeah bad call but I’m having a tough time doing the Vegas should have like v that game was taken from Vegas when the Oilers hit 3,000 posts. Even so, case by case basis that should have been called. It wasn’t. Bad call. And now you worry, what’s the injury? Yeah. I mean, that’s got like Jack Hughes written all over it, doesn’t it, man? Could be like collar bone, could be shoulder. Either way, not good news on two fronts for the Golden Knights. Uh the result of that play, Lil Wayne uh weighed in on it. Did you see Lil Wayne? Sweet. Yeah. Knights just got robbed. Everyone watching. Tuni on the case. Tuni uh famously kind of a hockey guy. I think he’s a Bruins fan. He’s just like a sports. Yeah. I think he’s just like a dork who watches. Didn’t he do uh the Skip Bis is the intro song? Yeah. He was at the draft this this summer cuz it was or I guess recently because it was in uh Green Bay and he’s a Packers fan. He’s cheese head. We all I was going to say we all know a little Wayne. I think mine might be Sean. I was gonna say I’m the same. I am definitely the same way. I watch there’s like a soccer game on just like whatever. I’m just like watching golf high. I watched highlight the other night. [ __ ] is electric. Sports rock. [Applause] [Music]
The Edmonton Oilers have now won six straight playoff games in which they’ve come from behind. Are they the hardest team to beat in professional sports?

Damn right 👍
the Team makes it and McDrai !!!!
Pete loves the leafs heard it here first
Its a comeback win if the opponent scores the 1st goal.
If you are behind in the game no mater how and you win it’s a comeback win
Sweet missed call I hope mcnabb is out for good that’s the playoffs . Vegas sucks.
jajajajjaajjajajaj they are like a zombies , OILERS ARE THE BEST ,,, that's all,,
They have the easiest route then anybody
ahha, its not a comeback wn its the goldeniht who blew it
Live I thought McNabb stepped on Arvidson's stick and even that is quite often called as a trip. A can-opener plus shove really should have been called, and with how effective the Knight's powerplay has been they've got a legitimate gripe on the non-call.
But that's also loser talk that their players have to flush before the next game, and I expect that they already have. I expect Vegas to start fast and play even more physical next game, especially if the suspension plus injury combo happens and they lose two players for the game.
His 3rd period in the playoffs, up until yesterday, was a :960…He has been an underrated gamer all series.. I mean, even with those 2 goals scored in the third last night, he's still only let in 3 total all playoffs
People don't realize that for the last 3 years, the team that beat the Oilers went on to win the cup. Lord Stanley has been long overdue in Oil Country
The oilers haven’t won a championship? Are you ok? They’ve won more than a few championships
Skinner is great goalie to one of the best pairing in the NHL, the playoffs are long and hard for any player especially goalies.
So, with all the secondary scoring the oilers have, they don't need to play Dri and McJeebus as much… so less time on ice to get injured and more time they can give them in desperate situations … like overtime, or when they are behind by a couple
Comeback Oilers will win this series in 4.
I've never seen your show before. You had me as a viewer until you blasphemed the Name of Jesus. Shame.
They gonna win the cup , because believe me the Kings were definitely winning the cup ! Nobody was gonna beat the Kings this year , except Edmonton
with out the replay… everyone thought he fell into the boards
These dudes just can't keep their macbooks from going to sleep.
Canucks fan here- I can feel the magic for sure. I believe they will win it all this year.
They don't have Stuart in net. Enough said. What more of an explanation do you need?
How are these guys so into Stuart Skinner!? Kris Knoblauch tried sticking with Skinner last year and they lost. He could've gone back to Skinner if he was a creature of habit but didn't because he learned from last year. What more do you want from the coach!? Do you want Jay Woodcroft back!? I'm glad the system keeps people like this from coaching. Loyalty shouldn't justify lack of talent. If it did the Oilers would never see a championship. He made the right choice because Pickard is a better goalie not a habit!
This coming from a guy wearing a tiger cats shirt
Cani get a tattoo more douche than urs
The Oilers are not being overly good at one thing. They are being good enough at everything.
Tom brady? yeah win a cup first. Game 1 2-2 with 3 mins to go. Game 2 lucky win. Comparing any part of this to the most dominant franchise in NFL history? i mean come on.
Never want to jinx the team by making prognostication a. If a big old correction is coming, let them get it out of their system in one go, rather than going along with these nail biter, overtime situations. Overtime is too volatile for my liking.
2:27, and I'm done with you two clowns, if you're talking hockey then stick to hockey metaphors,. Like the excitement in magic around the Kings in 14 and 12, nobody wants to know about your exmeth head lifestyle,
the only time the other guy has or will experienced a million of anything is the millionth hit that doesn't subscribe,
Listening to this right after they announced Stu is starting tonight 😬😬😬
As a Jets fan, I’m 100x more scared of Edmonton than Dallas
Calvin Pickard is a great goalie. Like even last year when Skinner sh!t the crease against Vancouver, Pickard comes in gets the team a win. Put Skinner back in for the rest. I bet we would have won the cup last year if Pickard played most the games. Especially against Florida. Pickards 6-0 in playoffs. 😂😂😂. WTF are we even debating here??? Why's Skinner playing??? How hurt can Pickard be?? He Finnished the game and won in overtime how hurt can Pickard be?? Sounds like an excuse to give Skinner a 100th chance to be our main goalie. This is scary. Skinner wins this game I'm just so effing scared whoever in Oilers management that favorites Skinner thinks this means he's our starting goalie again and we lose our run to the cup by goaltending. Pickards doing what he's doing for a reason. Skinner is behind the bench for a reason. Let's keep it the way things are. 6-0. Why fix what's not broken. Also what if Skinner loses this game?? Not cool. He must win. Or this guy's Finished. I don't know an Oilers fan in Red Deer that wants this Stuart Skinner anymore. He's gotta be better than at least Pickard. So Skinner continue the win streak. He's got home ice advantage. All the hard games Pickard just won. Can you imagine if Skinner could possibly lose this game tonight. He needs a shut out to win some fans back.
Whe the oilers won their cups they had Grant Fuhr and Andy Moog. When Fuhr was off Sather replaced him with Moog right away – no hemming and hawing! I preferred Moog over Fuhr because he didn't let weak goals in. Fuhr got beat by easily saveable shots quite often – he was very good at getting saves on sure goals.
cool so just give them the Cup and stop playing the games 🙄 this group of Oilers hasn’t even won one championship and they are being compared to the Chiefs LOL how about we wait to see if they even have what it takes to win it once
