I am disappointed to see my team lose to the Hurricanes yet again, but they were the better team. This Capitals team looked like they just gave up after Game 3, which was when I knew the Stanley Cup is not coming to DC this year.
I give props to both teams, though. The Hurricanes needed a statement win to prove their naysayers wrong (typical talk that they are chokers, similar to what we went through pre-2018), and they beat the best team in the East for that. For us, it was definitely a step up from last season, where we claimed the last ticket only to be swept by the Rangers. All I can say to my team is this: one year left. If we want to send Ovi off with a Cup win before his deal runs out, we only have this much time left.
Hurricanes fans, go ahead and do your victory lap. You guys earned it. Best of luck in the Eastern Conference Finals. (Just please, no "LOL Browns" jokes; you're not Yinzers, don't be like them.)
