The NHL officiating has been and seems to always be a major topic of discussion especially in the Playoffs. Yet somehow, every year it seems fans complain they have only gotten worse. This 2025 playoffs, has certainly seen its fair share of inconsistencies with the NHL officiating. Last night in game 5 of the Winnipeg Jets vs St.Louis Blues, we saw Mark Scheifele take a big hit from Brayden Schenn that was called only a 2 minute minor. However, with after Scheifele took another hit a little after in the period from Faksa, he was officially ruled out of the game. He will also not be playing in game 6. Many compared the hit to THE hit Matthew Tkachuk laid on Jake Guentzel which received a 5 minute major. So why did this hit not even get looked at? Scott Arniel claimed the hit from Schenn was also where Scheifele was injured, while Jim Montgomery disputed the claim with the drama in this series ramping up again. Regardless of where you are with this hit, undisputedly the officiating has been bad both ways. There were several missed calls in this game, and we have seen countless examples of no calls throughout this series. I cover that and more in todays NHL hockey video!

This is what the NHL wants. They want the rough and tumble âplayoffâ hockey. They can call it all season but stop it in the playoffs. Thats a choice thatâs been made. Toss in a neutered DOPS and it wonât get better any time soon.
If you look deeply enough into Montyâs big bald head, you can see Schenn sobbing while golfing
Blaming the refs for players bad decisions is so backwards. Players know the rules, they're breaking them.
I'm more of a casual sports fan now, but between all the betting ads and the bad officiating if the Jets had been eliminated I would have just stopped watching. It's been very frustrating seeing those hits, seeing a foot of ice between skates.
No accountability for refs in pro- sports….games are fixed for betting.
Haven't watched Hockey in 20 years to many PUSSIES on so many levels LMFAO đ
Nhl refs are so corrupt the stanley cup winners of the last 16 years are not the correct one….
Remember the glove "save" that was clearly over the line, even if your a blues fan I mean come on? That one was obvious. Behind the cross bar it's behind the line.
Correction: scheifele did play another shift after the faksa hit.
Not trying to take the sides of the refs, but referring can definitely be hard especially because the other 40000 fans on other team are going to judge for your call. But there needs to be some consistency, but donât make there be a penalty every 7 seconds because thatâs boring.
The nhl, not the fans, has made hockey the most violent team sport on earth. I think the world wrestling federation is in charge. Some of these players should be in jail along with the complacent refs.
80% of faceoffs result in a player being "tossed".
0% on the second try.
It's a referee issue.
Just put the puck on the ice. Back off.
Blow whistle to start play.
Stop the fake drops.
it's the reason why I don't watch nhl no more. Should be called the JHL, Joke Hockey League.
It appears that small market and/or Canadian teams are dealing with stripes calling only for the other team; American and/or large market teams. Is this at your direction Mr Betman?
We saw the worst calls in the Leafs/Panthers Game 1 the other night.
Max Domi skates over to Marchand after the whistleâŠ..literally. Thatâs it.
Gets 2-minutes form cross checking.
Then, Sam âMatt Cooke 2.0â Bennett, cuts across the crease and elbows Anthony Stolarz in the head.
Stolarz goes down and ultimately ends up vomiting on the bench.
He was later stretchered out of the building and taken to hospital.
No penalty. No fine. No suspension.
An absolute clown show.
Avs lost to the refs… there was horrible interference on one of the Dallas goals… dude, literally picked Lindgren like a basketball ball play… what does he need to do, fall down and twitch… horrible officiating all series…
NHL NEEDS OFFICIATING REFORM. NHL NEEDS BETMAN TO RETIRE.
The problem isnât too few calls, the problem is too many calls. Every time someone so much as breathes on another player thereâs a call. Hooking is way over called.
This is league driven. The NHL has been doing this for years. Playoffs start. New set of rules. Amp up the animosity and intensity by instructing the refs to swallow their whistles. They are as effective as a door knocker on Buckingham Palace. Turning a blind eye is going to result in career ending injuries and should lead to civil liability. Not sure why the Players Association is silent.
Blues got absolutely screwed over by the refs adding time in game 7, buying time for winnipeg
For me are this massive cross checks a big problem
Kickass video đ
Schenn needs to get a few games for leaving his feet as often as he does, classless player.
The Habs caps series was ridiculous. The refs literally handed that series to the caps on a silver platter
