EXCLUSIVE: Sean Couturier gets the news that the Flyers have hired Rick Tocchet
Daniel Briere, Keith Jones and Dan Hilferty call captain Sean Couturier to deliver the news that the organization has hired Rick Tocchet as the next coach of the Philadelphia Flyers.
When did Rick Tocchet become a coach to get excited about? He's missed the POs in 7/9 of his seasons behind the bench. He nearly derailed Keller's career. Pettersson struggled mightily under him. Like great… he's got a Jack Adams… but we know behind every Jack Adams winner there's Vezina-level goaltending.
Hey..I know the team isn't 'there' yet, but what a great group of managers and now great guy and head coach for this team!! It's time to start getting excited in Philly!! Couts will have a much better year this year too. 👍
I have a question … Its for the amazing Flyers fan base that im forced to defend on a daily basis … Now if you were coming over to my house and on the way you heard how all the guys are already there and everyones talking shit about how much they cant stand you AND YOU KNEW THEY WERE SHIT TALKIN!!! When you arrived and you walked in would you wipe your shoes off on the mat? OR WOULD YOU STEP IN DOG SHIT BEFORE YOU ENTERED THE HOUSE??? Seriously people grow the fuck up! He's 4 months away from coaching his first game for the team HE CHOSE to coach… And you guys are judging him on shit he did 10 years ago with Arizona? Is it fair that the chick you want wont hook up with you because when you guys were 4 years old she saw you pick your nose??? Things change Marcy!!!
As long as Sean Couterier is your top center, you aren't going anywhere. He is maybe a three or four line center. Back to Flyers dump and chase hockey.
Sports is just a business..Tocchet is as good a choice as anyone….He actually has a lot of hockey knowledge and experience. From player to behind the bench he is a decent choice.
I thought the 5×5 Rick Tocchet rumors were just a bluff from DB to get other teams to bid higher on him. Then the Flyers would go with a cheaper rebuilding coach for the next year or two, because let's face it… we are still gonna be pretty bad.
But DB wasn't playing 4D chess, he was eating crayons T_T
WOW guys this is huge. Being a Flyers fan since I was 10, thats 52 years as a fan I am excited. Bring our boys back home where they belong. Thats how we build this team! So happy!
This is a great example of how to build trust and leadership with in your organization by taking the time to communicate changes in the correct way! Straight out of a Dale Carnegie class!!

a big, very big mistake. Tocchet will start to ruin the team. First of all he'll flip on Mitchkov and then go after the other players one by one
Came here to commiserate with others about the Tocchet hire. The whole process was BS. Then making him a top-5 paid coach? Just laughable.
The front office is great and have brought the organization back to the way Mr. Snider had everything going!!
