Can the Leafs Still Beat the Florida Panthers?

After an abysmal game 5 loss to the Panthers, should all hope be lost for a Leafs comeback series victory or should there still be some confidence in this group?

  1. They blew there chance of getting anything for Marner and now he's going out with the upper hand to get what he wants What a joke of a team management,
Who really thinks he will be back now.

  2. Steve could be very okay. Just cheer for The Oilers.

Sure, we have our gaffs and defensive breakdowns now and then, but at least when the game really matters, our superstars come ready to wage war and bleed a little bit for the team and for us fans.

  3. They can't go to Florida to squeeze a win. They need to go there with a smash mentality and abruptly change the momentum. We have the players to do it.

  4. Look, I’ll give them all the credit if they can crawl their way back and win the series, but right now can anyone really blame us fans for giving up? That was a disgraceful performance, but it’s up to the team to show us that they actually want to win. Because all of our eyes aren’t lying to us. We see that there’s no heart, no giving a shit, how can you expect us to care when obviously they don’t? We don’t get to go back to millions of dollars, and a car and a big house. We get to go back to our full or part time jobs, trying to scrape through day by day. Just a little passion and heart is all we ask in return, which seems such a small thing to be asking for but means so much to us. Ok rant over, now prove me wrong Leafs, show me you give a shit.

  5. I think in the case of Matthews, it’s both. It’s absolutely both. Extending or letting Marner walk? Harder for me to know how to feel.

  6. Comeback? They can and they won’t.

To clarify, they ā€œcanā€ win this series but they don’t have the will or the mental fortitude to play the necessary way to win. I always believed that Toronto would decide who wins this series. They decided no.

  7. It’s not that they don’t want, I think they’re overwhelmed. Have you even been overwhelmed ? You know what… no amount of money cores being overwhelmed. The only thing that cures overwhelmed is trust and just letting go. I don’t think they trust that they can win and getting down early solidifies that lack of trust and the problem intensifies.

  8. Leafs are done! The only difference this year over last year is they won two game as opposed last years one game!

Panthers have dominated the last three games, and at this point I don't see that changing.

  9. Paul is actually correct. Cup winning teams or teams that go deep constantly dont believe in momentum. They work hard every play, every shift, every period, every game. One step at a time.

Momentum is hopeful shit for losers and a loser mentality. You want it, you will go and get it. Thats what Panthers decided to do when they were down 3 to 1 game 3. Since then, they haven't looked back.

That has never been the mentality of this core. They believe that if they play the same level and intensity, they will eventually stumble into a cup.

Sorry, there are no gimmies in playoff hockey. You got to earn it. You earn it by playing harder and harder as the post-season progresses.
