The Panthers took out the Leafs MVP in Game 1 . Whether it was deliberate intentional or an accident is irrelevant. There was zero. Let me repeat…There was zero response against Bennett or any panther the next game nothing no response. The Leafs Stolarz MVP in the Ottawa series is out of the series and the leafs did absolutely nothing not one player dropped the gloves nothing. I still hope I’m wrong but that night I said we will lose the series because of this their response is a disgrace.. I thought Coach Berube who I have always respected Brought in a certain sense of toughness and yet for there to be no response ? not one player? it is shameful and that’s why they are losing the series. Toronto lost the game. There’s another game that goes on during a hockey game. It’s the game within a game & Florida absolutely owns the leafs ….once they took out our MVP and we did nothing nothing. We were afraid to take a two minute instigator penalty is that why we didn’t fight that way we didn’t stand up for our goalie.? Could you imagine Wendell Clark with Potvin out of the series? Could you imagine Darcy Tucker with Eddie the Eagle out for the series b/c he was elbowed in the head- No response ? give me a break. Toronto knows how to win comfortable hockey games. That’s what they want. They want to be comfortable.
Matthews has done literally nothing other than win faceoffs. Marner only plays well when the team is playing well, and does horrible under pressure. McMann is worthless. And most of all (cheers Bennett, and generally DIRTY team), Woll is a backup goalie and can't take this in stamina or pressure. Most of those goals were ones any NHL goalie should have.
The celtics had every right to phone it in last night with no tatum, but they shiwed character….the leafs werent evem facing elimination, and they didn't show up
The guy to cause chaos and excitement isn't even in the lineup. It's insane to me that we don't have one of the best tough guys in the league even playing. Reaves was signed to be the adrenaline and protect the skill players. Panthers are manhandling everyone. We have no one crashing the Panthers and making them pay. Berube loves tough guys and the one that could make the biggest difference is sitting. Sure there is a skill gap and a defensive liability but that isn't what the leafs paid Reaves for anyway. Put the guy out there on the 4th line and let him go to work!
Game 5 was brutal. Doctor, more morphine please. Hockey is a game of momentum and inches though. Who would have thought this after the first period in Game 3. Completely different scenario. Then it just slips away. Sports in a nutshell.

They just can never win, I'm amazed how the blind die hard Leafs fans keep supporting them and cheering for this team that always loses when it counts the most. Leaf fans, just turn away and forget about this pack of eternal losers

After Marner walks for a much diminished new contract elsewhere, it will be interesting to see how many draft picks Matthews brings.Not getting too up or too down is great when you're winning, but if you don't have another gear when you're losing you aint playoff material. But they'll probably go the easy route and trade Nylander and let Tavares walk, since the market for M and M is probably on deep discount alert in the remainder bin. They should be on the NHL substance protocol: addicted to mediocrity.
