The Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals really hate each other, especially after Jalen Chatfield’s takedown of Connor McMichael during a fight. We discuss whether or not it was dirty and more from a chaotic Canes-Caps matchup.

Its dangerous but so is punching someone in the face repetitively. Both cuz head trauma from impact. If u dont want that then maybe dont fight someone
Admittedly biased but live from the game last night: Looked to me like two guys who don't fight often trying, and Chat trying to get his arm free to swing again.
The real problem last night was BS Tom Wilson was pulling trying to cause this. I think the NHL is handcuffed where if they suspend Chat, they have to hit the Caps for instigating.
Such BS! Caps got their ass kicked and spent much of the night trying to feed Ovi all while gooning it up and trying to injure Canes players most of the game. Wilson is a child in a man’s body just trying to injure any opposing players. BTW, when two guys fight they are attempting to injure each other. If you wanna make sure a combatant isn’t injured in a hockey fight then make a rule that as soon as a helmet is lost, fight ends period. It’s already a rule that if a player loses his helmet in the course of normal play they must return to the bench. Chatfield isn’t known as a fighter and frankly Im not either. However, if Im put in that position Im gonna do wha5ever the fuck I gotta do. And don’t talk to us about respect! Talk to Tom Wilson
So Chatfield is not a fighter, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him fight. He doesn’t even really play that physical for a bigger d-man. I don’t think he wanted to fight but McMichael was just hammering him all the way up the boards from the half walls and he finally just had enough.
If the NHL wants to address the incident they also have to address the officiating and the antics of the Capitals gooning it up when they were down big on the scoreboard. That’s who the Caps are, they’ve been that way for years.
People not accustomed to fighting will end up getting drawn into fights more and more until the NHL really cracks down on goonish behavior from certain players. Kucherov does this crap too and it’s just such a bad look for the league
You are both Babies. When you are fighting there are no real rules. If you have every been in a fight its natural to attempt to to throw your opponent down. You are all CUCKS!
Most of the videos going around don't show it, probably because most of the cameras were late to swap from the play to the fight, but Chatfield and McMichael both through several punches before they skated to where the takedown happened.
No supplemental discipline from the league, ladies. The NHL’s way of saying the Caps and Mc Michael got what they deserved. Better luck next time. BTW, the photos at 4:07 and 4:13 are beautiful.
LOL you guys sound so goofy
Your come on said fair or foul? In your vid, there’s no fair so why ask the question. Just take the foul position so I could’ve avoided this. Chatfield has not been a fighter since he’s been on the Canes. You didn’t watch the game. Wilson instigated all of it. The Canes usually walk away from fighting. They probably throw the fewest hits in the NHL. They were totally provoked and I was happy to see them step up for a change. You guys didn’t even mention Stankoven taking on Wilson. The Caps tried to bully the Canes and got more than they asked for.
Clean! Clean! Clean!!!🧽
LMAO these guys acting like a rivalry between caps and canes is brand new. There’s been contention since before Ovi got to the NHL. They used to fight for the southeast division crown back in the 90s and 2000s. And there’s been major heat since their 1st round matchup in the 2019 playoffs. There’s a reason they were picked as the Canes’ Stadium Series opponents more recently.
Chatfield’s play was dangerous, but Chatfield doesn’t know how to fight. Caps were gooning it up and instigating fights with any and everyone so this is the result.
Honestly I’m with you on stopping this nonsense, hell, I’d be just as entertained if the NHL banned fighting tomorrow. The problem has always been that the NHL allows way too much goonery that is naturally going to escalate. It gets worse in the playoffs when the unwritten rule is the calls have to be “even” regardless of how the teams play. So you incentivize goonery when players know there won’t be consequences for it. Especially if it’s something that’s behind the play.
I just wish people would have a serious conversation about the NHL’s culture as a whole, rather than clutching their pearls whenever the inevitable happens. The answer is to stop this before it starts.
