So, that means, for the cap hit, it would be somewhat like if they traded Carey Price for Lane Hutson…(once Price’s contract is done) and thats a very good trade as far as paying for what he can bring vs what we are currently getting for Price

The cap crunch isn’t right now. I’d rather have a 8 years deal where he’s overpaid at the beginning but we can keep the team together in a few years when Demidov, Guhle, Fowler will ask for big contracts.
8×10 would actually be a very good deal. Best case I could see him taking a hometown deal at 9.5 but the kid is worth the money so I don’t mind at 10-11 either.
you guys need to chill mantheson did the same amount of assist/points than he did last season, like yeah hutson is a better player and brain but he has no shot yet, I wouldn't give this type of player 8 million x 8 years right away let him earn it, one season is too early to judge. He's also a small D, and this is coming from a die hard habs fan not a hater just be realistic and give things time
Definitely give him the 8 year extension. But let's try and keep it at 8-9 a year so we can take in all talent we can. Cause price will only go up.
