We need some rough and tumble ol time hockey players. We looked soft against the Panthers.
I agree playoff time is the best time of the year! Better when the Bolts go deep in the playoffs.
Greg you have only done 78 episodes so not even 40%
How could you possibly think you were at least half of them?
Also please get rid of the ai questions please.
It feels a lot of people forget we had quite a few players who never experienced the playoffs. And the top 6 was pretty banged up, and caused some interesting lines in the playoffs. We are not that old of a team. And we have alot of players who have been getting better such as Cirelli, Hagel, Geekie, Goncalves, Lilliberg(yes he was getting better, but lack of experience showed in playoffs, happens alot to younger defenders). Veterans like Girgenson and Moser also finally got playoff experience.
I'm sure Glendening and Perbix are gone. Would love to see those spots go to Nathan Bastian and Crozier or another physical rhd.
Plus the Panthers are likely screwed this off-season. They have about 17m expected available, but Bennet, Ekblad, Marchand, Jones, and a few others are all free agents. Any duo of Jones, Ekblad, and Bennet would take almost all of that 17m.
Meanwhile the Bolts only have a few spots to fill and literally need to sign 1 or 2 physical RHD, and a couple physical forwards. We have enough space.
Also why are alot you guys complaining about losing Howard, then complain we need to get bigger and more physical. Howard is not helping us get more physical or bigger. We have offense. Probably part of why it didn't work out. It seems he wanted to play immediately. But he would not have helped right now at all. We need to get bigger.
Also, the cap is going up every year, the next few years. We're fine. We're looking to be in good shape for future extensions and FA signings.
Running it back would be the biggest mistake JBB could make. Every open roster spot should be filled with tougher players, and the team absolutely needs to carry a goon. If they had any semblance of toughness at all this year, things might be different.
Re-sign Gage, Gourde (if >=3), Finley, and Crozier. If Gourde wants too much, go get a PWF in free agency like Brazaeu. Stay tf away from 5'6 40 year old forwards.
Trade Howard, heavily consider trading Geekie for the right piece. The assets/value in one or both should be plenty to acquire capital and beef.
Trade for a tough defenseman, ala Nick Seeler, and find a goon to play 13th F. Seeler can likely be had for a 2nd/3rd rounder + Crozier. Goons are cheap, but would probably have to be acquired. Deslaurier and Johnston come to mind. If I had my druthers, I'd re-sign Jeannot.
Anything less is asking to go out in 1 again considering we were the only team who, despite already being one of the smallest in the league up front, got even smaller at the deadline.
Lightning and Jai Alai two of my favorites. Great interview!
