  1. Nice double shot, Coach signed and Willander signed.

I know we aren't a championship franchise, and not a destination for the top coaches. I'm okay with that. But the stability of keeping and promoting Foote is a solid move. He wants the opportunity. He's an underdog. But he does leave a hole in our D coaching.

I'd like to see more. The team needs help. The fans need hope. The players need rearranging.

The media has something to talk about. The management is making moves.

    Go Canucks!

  2. Highes respects veteran coaches and Foote is closer to that than Malhotra.

I prefer Malhotra and his run and gun style, but as of now Canucks have no guns

  3. I think trying to find someone to 'connect' to Petterson is a mistake. He appears to be better off when left alone to do his thing. Its not like you have to babysit him and his defensive responsibility. Other players you may not want them 'doing their own thing'… with Pettersson its probably better.. let him be himself and you will get good offence and good defense. Tocchet talked about 'rewiring' him… huh.. rewire a selke vote getter with multiple 30 goal seasons a 100pt season, multi time all star, calder trophy ect. Why on earth would you 'rewire' an elite offensive player that is also probably your statistically best defensive player?

  4. This is a good management decision. They have Malholtra as a fall back if Foote fails. If they promoted Malholtra to HC then they would lose that fall back. Foote was never going to stick around if he didnt get the HC position. Malholtra still has a contract with the AHL team and most likely wont get picked up by another team this offseason. I dont think anyone was worried about losing malholtra this year if Tocchet signed a 5 year extension.

  5. A good head coach can think the game as well as their best offensive and defensive players with and without the puck. They can adjust their style of play and game plan quickly. They're great teachers, motivators, communicators and know how to get the best from each player and the team – they have good instinct and make sound decisions. This team struggled primarily because they were slow to adjust and didn't realize their technical/system flaws without the puck at both ends of the ice and in transition. Foote had his chance to put his stamp on this team the past two seasons so it will be interesting to see what changes he makes!
