  1. Bring in Malhotra as his assistant coach, and I will be okay with it. Foote for Hughes and the team's defensive strategizing. Malhotra to develop the young players as well as the team's offensive game—hopefully a hybrid offensive system that blends the strengths of Tochet's strategy with fluent forward motion and puck movement through the middle and offensive zones, as well as pucks on net. Blend the best of the Vegas Golden Knights team's defensive game with the best of the Oiler-style team offensive game.

  2. I'm good with the decision. Foote deserves it, he's earned it.

How he handles EP11.6 will be his biggest challenge.

  3. Pretty good! Just need good assistant coaches who have a lot of experience/ideas with offense and transition offense. Would really complement Foote!

I wonder if they didn't wanna go for Todd Nelson or Jay Woodcroft

  4. I'm indifferent until we see who he brings on as his assistants. We realistically don't know if we are still going to be a dump n chas team which those teams have faltered these playoffs.

  5. The first question that should have been asked by management…

Is Quinn hughes leaving when he becomes UFA, regardless of the Canucks coach, roster or contention status, in order to play with his brothers?

That should inform the subsequent strategy and tactics, including head coach choice and whether to tweak or retool/rebuild the roster.

If they have clarified Quinn’s intentions (a big IF, given management’s recent leaning towards a “Let’s allow contracts to run down to the wire and then hope for the best” strategy), it would be helpful to media and fans alike if management communicated it).

We won’t be winning the Cup in the next two years with or without Quinn, so if the vibe in any way feels like he won’t stay, management need to bite the bullet and initiate ‘Project: Let’s get maximum return for Huggy’ as soon as possible.

  6. No like. Malhotra would have brought a new energy…a very needed new energy/identity. I feel he won't last the duration of his contract.

  7. I think it's a good choice. Foote's done well as an assistant, he knows the players and what it takes to get the most out of them, and the players know and respect him already, so he already has the dressing room from day 1. That also allows Maholtra to continue what he started this season and working with the prospects in Abbotsford. Maybe at the end of Foote's contract is the right time to bring Manny up as that'll be when many of the guys he coached will now be into their NHL careers full time and bringing him up to head coach the NHL Canucks will be a reunion of the Abbey boys who made it.

  8. Not a bad choice. The team obviously supported Tocchet so this is the next best thing for continuity. Hopefully Quinn Hughes is good with it.
