I've never played goalie in my life lol, this is my read of the situation, some goalies disagree so you can listen to them. I do see a goalie with no confidence and who seems to be losing grasp of the fundamentals. My feelings.
I’m not an oilers fan but blaming skinner on that goal isn’t fair. The puck would have completely missed the net if it wasn’t knocked in by his own player. Sure he was out of position but it still wouldn’t have gone in.
I feel skinner just doesn’t try and or care he has the skill but not the drive that pickard or even ahl goalies have because they get this opportunity once in a lifetime
All Draisaitls fault man, not skinner. It wasnt even going in, he played wellin the game and thats that. Skinner even nudged it out of the way so it wouldnt go in. So to answer everyones question, and to piss people off. it was draisaitls fault not skinner
The Oilers simply don’t play well in front of Skinner for what ever reason. With Pickard it net they play with more swagger and confidence. Seen it many times over and over the last two seasons. I can offer no explanation why.
All someone had to do was either stand up or stand still and that goal doesn't happen. In fact most Oiler goals against would be prevented with this method of defense.
You have to think the Kings fans chanting "We want Skinner" is haunting this team. Imagine if the Oilers had someone like Oettinger or Bobrovsky or even just average goaltending. Maybe they can trade for Vasilevskiy since the Lightning's run seems to be over.
IMHO as a former goalie and a Kings fan (still in pain we should’ve been in the second round but the boys choked). I can understand why Skinner is coming out of the net like that. He’s obviously aware that it’s the dying seconds of the game and he’s probably thinking if I get out far enough he either has nothing to shoot at or has to go around me completely and likely time will run out. If Drai doesn’t touch the puck, it doesn’t go in. I honestly don’t hate what Skinner does there. I highly doubt that he does the same thing in the middle of a period.
They need to want it more or they loose pure and simple … being so close last year and being predicted by video game companies isn’t enough … they need to want it so bad they bleed for it … I’ve grown up through it all the Gretzky years and even before that … Edmonton was a fav just to p off my family as Toronto fans and now I’m here hoping one of the greatest teams ever assembled and who does take casualties manages … but they need to want it … HARD
skinner made the right play with so little time on the clock, he has to come out and attack to avoide giving smith too much net. drai shouldnt be whacking around infront of the net like that
So off base man. If he hugs the post smith drives with an opportunity to shoot that puck was going wide all drai on this. Nice try though. I assume you haven't played much hockey but that's ok most of those who comment watch a lot of hockey but that's all. Not saying he was good but he played that right.
Sure maybe Skinner should have just hugged the post, but that puck wouldn't have gone in if not for Draisaitl. McDavid's goal wasn't Hill's fault either as it went in off a Vegas defender's skate.
I 100% have to disagree with you there being aggressive in that moment give smith 1 option an that’s to shoot. There is way more risk with rvh, that position allows for too many options especially with the fact that smith had no one on him at the time. On top of that the 2 games he played before the kings had an insane amount of high danger chances At one point it was literally 50-60% of their shots were high danger chances. If anything it’s unfortunate that it took relieving their starting goalie of his position for them to get their s**t together
Cal pickard is not that amazing. This game proved to me that edmonton got their shit together and pickard has JUST enough of his shit together to make wins happen. Skinner? Ugh
The options in that situation are RVH, VH, overlap, or maybe an aggressive poke check. What skinner did wouldnt of been an option on the test at all. It wasnt the wrong save selection he didnt even make one. He panicked and tried to close the gap as a desperation attempt showing panic. Like its been said makeing the wrong save is one thing lossing your nerves makes games impossible to win at that position in the playoffs. Safe bet seems to keep him out.
OILERS PICKARD PURPOSELY TARGETED BY Knights HERTL BECAUSE HE'S BIG AND OILER ARE AFRAID OF BIG PLAYERS.. VEGAS'S ROY LAUGHING AFTER CROSSCHECK TO THE TEETH OF OILER GOT NO PUSHBACK!!!! OILERS ARE SOFT AND COWARDLY EMBARRASSING THEIR BETA FANS‼️
Skinner should take the puck up and try score at this point . He can’t stop shit. He must be betting on the oilers to lose there’s no way he’s that ass.
It was an ugly goal, there's multiple things that could have been better. Overall the Oilers did not play well throughout that game, they looked like they were on vacation for a good half of the game and Skinner made some great saves to keep them in it. I think Mondays game will be different.
I disagree with some of these premises. I don't like Skinner's attitude of being a reverse Campbell (i.e. "I'm happy to have lost as it teaches me so much"). That said, this loss was absolutely not on Skinner. He didn't play that bad. In fact, he didn't even play the last goal that badly, as he was able to steer the shooter to a position where he could not hit the net. Unfortunately Draisaitl deflected it into the net and it was, for all intents and purposes, an "own goal". Draisaitl had a terrible night contributing directly on 3 goals against.
Skinner is a young goalie who has shown some skill and potential, but sometimes his confidence and focus gets caved in. That said, even Hellebucyk has been terrible in the first round these past few postseasons. Pickard may only be an average NHL goalie, but he battles and right now, he gives his team a chance every game.
🛑 Doesn't matter who is in net if CLOWNSHOW NURSE IS PLAYING‼️ -3 last game as usual!!!! -13 after playoffs last year even with Mcdavid on his line!!! this defensive liability been a cancer for a decade.. 🙆♂️
I'm sorry, but it was also the Oiler defence who completely gave up defending. Too busy trying to become goaltenders themselves instead of preventing attackers from coming close to their own goal. No attacker should come in like that and get a free shot on goal. Yes, the stats for Skinner don't look great, I agree, but no one keeps stats on how many defenders get bypassed, or blindly centre the puck in their own zone, or cannot clear the puck, time and again. I keep referring to the Oiler defence as a steel sieve for a reason.
Ahhh quit whining. Skinner made the shot 100% impossible with the move he did, but he got unlucky with Draisaitl's stick being there. He denied all shot angles by coming out of the net, and there was onky 1 second left on the clock. You can come out of the net with 1 sec on the clock.

the oilers haters are gonna be out in full force today
HTP GOOD POINT
Skinner was a bad call after Pickard is so consistent and reliable.
Mind you, the final goal was Drais' issue. Skinner rode the shooter to a shit angle. That should have never gone in.
I feel skinner just doesn’t try and or care he has the skill but not the drive that pickard or even ahl goalies have because they get this opportunity once in a lifetime
It's going 6 games, Vegas in 6 if Skinner stays in net, and Oilers in 6 if Pickard comes back in game 5
Out of all the things the oilers have done you choose this.😞🖕

Ну Скиннер сделал все и не сунь Леон клюшку был бы овертайм. Так что претензии к немцу.

he let in a few bad goals i thought. He also slides widely

Blame the goalie for Crysaital putting the puck in his own net.
Makes total sense for Oiler fans

I like you and your channel, but I want to see the Oilers lose this series more than anything in this world.
Knights are lucky idc Oilers in 6 hope Oilers take them out fast.
That was the play to make. Should’ve beeen 0 chance to score. Literally!!!!
I didn't expect Vegas to win last night
Vintage Golden Knights!! Misfits!

The Oilers wont win a Cup, until their goalie situation figured out.

Yeah, but come on, that stache makes up for it bro.

Ofc he makes a video about them when they lose
This was crazy

Tonight? Skinner hasn't had hood fundamentals in his life… he's just big so the puck hits him a lot..skinner is shit
"McDavid's shot just ends up going in" yeah off of VGK, just like Drai 🤔

To all the half brain dead Oilers fans this is not how you "cut off the angle" lmaoo!
Edmonton will never win with this core. Even if they get an actual goalie their defence is brutal.
