The phantom call on Domi last game was the worst I'd seen all playoffs. Until tonight, Rodriguez getting called for embellishment on that play is inexcusable. I'm a Leafs fan, but yikes. Panther fans have every right to lose their shit on that one. I sure as hell would be if that was called against us.
People talk about players getting overwhelmed in the moment in the playoffs, both referees looked like they got lost, especially in that second period. A handful of egregious non-calls going both ways All the talk about protecting the goalies, both took some significant hits in their crease with no call. Holmberg gets a blindside hit with the puck nowhere near him, then gets a soft call against him. Maybe that was a makeup call for the Rodriguez call? I can live with that.
Gutsy win, a little too passive at the start of the game and at times in the third, but still good effort all around.
Refs have been too much of a story the first two games though. Overshadowing what's been two really hard fought games by two really good teams.

Rodriques is a knuckle head for running into the boards and Laughton for boarding him, and the other florida player needs to get an extra 2 mins for jumping LAughton .
But they evening out the calls was the right move but not the exact proper penalty call.
26 to 15 hits, Pachority is the best forward for the leafs overall.
I love how everybody agrees this wasn't a super clean hit and yet nobody feels bad for Florida.

I have seen a Rodrigues fake injury in soccer too!
They missed the cross check into boarding. They call the hurt player who walks off the ice for embellishment when they were plastered. Then, having missed the call on the boarding they just invent out of thin air a double minor roughing. And honestly, to put the cherry on top, the other 2 minute minor roughing for the Panthers player was softer than like 10 other instances of roughing in this game that weren't called.
The calls worked in the Leafs favour tonight but already just 2 games in and this may go down as one of the worst officiated series in NHL playoff history. Two phantom calls in back to back games and just like 10+ missed calls a game

As a life long Leaf fan that was blown call, I didn't see any embellishment there. Maybe it was a make-up call for the Domi one in game one?

play dirty, expect dirty…atleast he didn't leave on a stretcher to the hospital puking and out for the series…Toronto did get a penalty, Bennett got nothing, like we all expected
W refs calling that diver out in the playoffs, Rodriguez is almost as bad a Stutzle, he always fakes injuries and goes down the tunnel to try and bait calls then has miraculous recoveries as soon as the refs have made a decision.
I would love to see a comment from the NHL regarding this sequence of horrific calls!
