Hes clearly injured…as he is every playoffs. Hes a regular season player who cannot handle the physicality of a playoff series. Hes doing great defensively…but that doesnt get goals on the board. So does toronto want a a regular season team or a cup contender team?

Mathew’s has everything; size, speed, smarts, shot, hands, skill, BUT he doesn’t have a heart. Matthews is a solid player but he's being paid to be one of the best players in hockey, not just a solid player. Connor McDavid isn't struggling. Mikka Rantenan isn't struggling. Matthews has to up his game.

Matthews has 10 pts in 10 games this playoffs. Marner has 12 pts in 10 games. We're playing against Defending champs tied 2-2. Woll just stood on his head and is in solid form. The boys are playing well. Everyone's so negative. Leafs haven't even trailed once in the playoffs yet… You guys are the annoying leafs fans/media that everyone talks about. Matthews should sit out the next game. If he can’t find the back of the net then put someone in that can find it. Robinson has a history of scoring after coming back from a break. When Matthews was out in the regular season the team won games. Paying him $13.6 million a year is a waste of money when you’re in the post season and can’t score..SERIOUSLY!!!
Should have traded him years ago. Matthews has no loyalty to a Canadian team. He plays for his paycheck and his regular season output means nothing if he does not produce in playoffs.

It could be Matthews has a lingering injury that is hampering his goal scoring ability. Also at the time he was given the captaincy, it seemed at best questionable to me. Matthews doesn't seem to be cut from the same cloth as, say, a Steve Yzerman or a Sidney Crosby.

I think that it’s pretty clear that Auston is dealing with an injury of some sort, so expecting him to perform at full capacity isn’t realistic. Keep in mind he’s still contributing, he’s been good in all areas of the ice, the puck just isn’t going in for him. With that said, it would be great to see him pot a goal or two if he’s able.
