I agree with your thoughts..Ken Holland accomplished and acceptable GM option but a younger hire might be more inspiring.
Coaching I wish a team would give Bruce Boudreau a turn. He is older for sure but this team in particular seems poised to win for the foreseeable future and inclined to be at their best with a player’s coach as opposed to a taskmaster. Boudreau has great intuitive sense of coaching which I am sorry has been sidelined in recent seasons.
All Holland accomplishments are back in no cap era with DRW. He couldn't build champion with McD a Drai in EDM. Hope they don't make him LA GM…
I love that Hampton Slukynsky is on Team USA's roster for the World Championships! What an opportunity for him to learn how the pros carry themselves! The Kings goalie pipeline is growing again!

The caliber of GM we get is going to be directly tied to the amount of freedom he’ll have. If he can’t execute his plan without getting a “mother may I” from Robitaille, then the talent pool will dry up significantly.
Ken Holland is a safe bet. But, what if he dislikes some players on the Kings, and wants to dump them for something better with trades.
I would imagine Robitaille would ask that key question like who are dead weight and not effective on the current roster. Maybe Holland likes the roster but wants 2-3 more impactful seasoned players that can be traded.
Holland at age 69 isn’t likely to take this job if he is handcuffed without good cause. He probably wants to be 100% in charge. Will Robitaille and Ownership go for that kind of GM?
If Holland fires Hiller I'm all in.

oilers huge mistake losing Holland (jackson lost half the team that got them to 2 goals from the cup) and losing Woody who turned the team around and then made to take the hit for the team coming out slow. pathetic. LA Kings get a gift with Holland and Woodcroft. disaster for the oilers. oil need to fire bowman/jackson who did nothing but wreck the oilers.

Wouldn't be enthused over Holland, his performance in Edmonton wasn't that great, just ask any Oiler fan, and he is one of Luc's buddies… He was the GM of the Red Wings when they acquired Luc and won the Stanley Cup. There's a clear nepotistic line here, but it is what it is. Sound like they are practically typing up the contract. At least we have a good stable of goaltending prospects… Unless Holland trades them all for Skinner…
