AVS need to make some trades & get some 1st thur 3rd draft picks
Hope your AVS dont end up like my Milwaukee Bucks have star player with championship but no draft picks so they cant get any better being up to salary cap
People are forgetting Avs are/were between a rock and a hard place
Do you:
Sign a hall of fame player in Mikko
Or
Sign a hall of fame player and arguably the greatest defence man of all time in Cale
Alternate universe: Avs sign Mikko, but then have no money to sign Cale and he walks in free agency to the Stars. How are Avs fans feeling then
Chris you said it, easy to live in the here and now
Meanwhile Crosby is happy with 8.7 per year because his yacht is fine.
Necas only has a year left on his deal and is an 80 point player. He's going to end up getting ~$10M+, a marginal difference between Mikko's $12M. That's less than Miles Wood's salary ($2.5M), a guy who was warming the bench in the playoffs. You make up the difference by paying a team like San Jose to take Wood's contract. Or by not trading for a 3C making $5.25M in Coyle. Or by flipping Colton ($4.0) to recoup a couple assets.
Kadri wanted to stay with the Avalanche. They had a deal in place with Anahiem to trade Erik Johnson to clear up cap space, but EJ decided not to waive his NMC. This was confirmed by EJ himself in a 2023 Altitude Radio interview.
The decision not to prioritize re-signing Kadri put the Avalanche on a road that has led to where they are now. The most obvious mistake that caused this was re-signing Josh Manson. He's a good player, but Colorado already had Byram, Girard, Johnson, Makar, and Toews under contract. MacFarland got cute trying to also keep Manson and thinking EJ would waive his clause, something which he had no obligation to do. The Avalanche have now traded Byram, Ritchie, and a glut of 1st and 2nd round draft picks trying to find a 2C and still don't have one under contract three years later. Meanwhile, Kadri scored 35 goals this season.
Rockies ownership needs to go.
Naz hasn't done anything since he left? He had 35 goals during the regular season and 75 pts the year before. All while playing for the flames. The guy is still a stud, and his presence greatly missed the team. Honestly, signing him ahead of Lehkonen and Nichushkin would've made sense.
As a fan it hurts seeing players like Mikko go but it just makes sense to keep generational guys like Makar around. Plus do we know that the Stars win a cup?
maybe but I just don’t see it the Stars flopping and Goalie issues in the playoffs keep popping up.
Honestly I don’t see Mikko fulfilling that full 8 yr deal Dallas will run into the same Cap Issues soon as well.
Funny facts: Necas never close to Rantanen, Necas needs to improve overall and play more stable in long term and improve his playoff game.
Was pissed when we traded Moose, every single moment of the play offs has proven this was a fucking mistake. So personally not that high on Marty cause he as expected became a ghost in the play offs.
Guy needs to step the fuck up next year cause he won't even have much trade value as which GM is gonna trade a great play off player, a known commodity, for a guy who can't show up when it counts?
CMac can't trade Necas to himself soooooo yeaaaaah.
BTW Actually do love Necas, just right now, don't love what he gave us in the play offs and truly fucking have to hope that at least giving him a full season with us, maybe he can learn some good habbits.
What Mikko is showing in these playoffs, it was the dumbest trade in NHL history since the Gretzky trade. The worst is, MacFlushy not getting fired. Mikko is still 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
