Ekman-Larsson interference on Rodrigues – Tough Call Review
Oliver Ekman-Larsson was a touch (or two) early on this otherwise routine body check. They called it a major for review but then correctly reduced it to a two minute minor.
Id argue that embellishment as well. It hit the chest but rodreguez was holding his head, was down for like 2 minutes skated off and was right back out (Edit: he was not right back out i misheard an announcer say he was back on the bench). Clearly embellishment which he has a track history of
As a Panthers fan, Rodriguez could have been called for embellishment on that play. I wish the the refs had called it. He laid on the ice like someone shot him. Embarrassing when hockey players do that stuff like soccer players.
OEL had a right to that ice too, a good player would have embraced the Comtact and made a play for body position. Rodriguez didnt ,fine, 2 min minor is the right call.
The reason this is a 5 minute major is because if this is only 2 minutes, than I would just keep hitting marner, Mathew’s, and nylabder like this. You need to think about why 5 minute majors are called

Rodrigues has a long history of embellishment so I can't give him benefit of doubt here.
