these are the same scouts who thought Johnny Manziel was a top pick, the same scouts who thought Sanders will be a number 1 prospect, the same scouts who thought Volpe was a star…this is a NO BRAINER….Michael Misa is the choice over a player who had a collar bone injury and only played a month and a half…..

For many reasons. Hagens this year makes sense. Get another 1st rounder in next years rich draft. SJ wants D man. Maybe Utah wants misa. Better be sure. Hagens hasn’t been playing against 15-19 year olds. All these guys won’t be ready for at least 2 years
If they take Schaefer then I would let some D go and bring up George. You want a GM not like Bergevin who i heard likes the D and goaltending and makes bad long term contracts. We don’t want that again. The NHL has a low opinion of this club and that has to change with a young dynamic team.
I almost wish we had the 2nd pick so the choice would be made for us. Im not comfortable with anyone making the right choice. Id rather leave it to fate at this point.
I want a young, bright mind. Another dinosaur like Lou will just be in win now mode and trade the future for a pipe dream of a chance to win with old journeymen.
Gil, it looks like the future is bright. If this 1st overall pick goes well, Eiserman, Ritchie, and these young guns that are currently playing, they could be up to something. Whats the plan for Palmieri? I would keep him around.
The smart pick for POHO/GM is Darche DeAngelo should be offered $2M/1 year or $1.5M/2 years If the new GM thinks defense is the greatest need, you pick Shaeffer. If he thinks offense is the greatest need, you pick Misa. If San Jose wants Shaeffer, you get their best prospect to switch picks and then you draft Misa

hi Gil. the scouting staff has at least 1 yr+ working and preparing for the Draft. I would hope whoever is new PHO or GM would leave the drafting to them. I believe Lou did this in 2018. they can't make staff changes in that short of time and expect good results.
What about Porter Martone? I have read he has size, and can score!

I heard that being in the playoffs does not necessarily stop you from interviewing. You just need the team to allow it. Its a hurdle but any assistant wants the gm roll
The isles would b wise to trade down to 3rd or 4th spot to draft Hagens and pick up some much needed draft capital. Smartest move.
The next Islander GM should be Ken Morrow. He has been director of NHL personnel for the Islanders . He knows the Islander organization and all of its personnel. He is an ISLANDER and part of our incredible history
