Leafs are choking same to their captain Matthew’s not a playoff player
Matthews is drawing the Barkov line which lets the Nylander – Tavares line a much better matchup. But if Matthews continues his poor shooting Florida may shift line matchups.
Both goalies need to improve their games.

Funny part is even in the regular season the leafs seems to buckle down and play a different game.
This now comes down to a question of is Austin at x percentage worth it in the line over a different player that is healthier.
I would argue even if it's 50 % matthews I would take his defensive game over what's left in the lineup. How low though does it need to go before a change happens? 30%? 20%?
Hot Take: Even if the Leafs won game 3, they would've choked anyways and lose 4 straight to the Panthers.

It's a shame and a missed opportunity that the Leafs didn't win game 3 because if they did, they would've choked a 3-0 lead to the Panthers and lose 4 straight.
It was always going to be Panthers in 6 or 7. If the Leafs won game 3, then it would've been Panthers in 7. Since Panthers won game 3, it will now be Panthers in 6.

Even though Matthews hasn't been scoring he's still at a point per game and his two way play has been outstanding. I dont see a choker, i see an unselfish team player.

Matthews needs to step up and get goals or he should take a pay cut. Possibly even loosing his Captain C.

I know kampf hasnt played in a while.. but man i think he is better defensively then holmberg n a better face off guy.. berube needs to get rid of holmberg he provides no offence so kampf can do the same but win draws on the pk.. we only have mathews winning any faceoffs on the pk
all these professional opinions out here failing to see that even though matthews is not on fire this year he still has over 30 goals which is better than most players in the league as he is playing through an injury.

Problems on the powerplay starting to surface again. If Mathews is not the shooter now it hurts the power play. He will not go to the tough areas for a screen or a tip using his size. JT is getting hammered in the slot. He should be rotating with JT to slot providing a better screen and tip option. That he can still do. Maybe let Knies roll out on the opposite side occasionally to become a shooter. If he will not go to the front moving Mathew's to the point and Mitch to shooter.

Am a Leaf"s fan and happily admit that Mathews is a great player. However his contract is based on the fact that he is a scorer. A great defensive player would get less than 50% of what Mathews makes. I cannot understand why so much effort is given to justifying Mathew's level of play. Stop it. Okay he may be playing injured. We are allowed to say he has not shown his value the last 6 months and we are disappointed. During the run up to and during the playoffs he has been mediocre for the amount he gets paid. For now, that rating is the best he deserves. Spread more credit to the rest of the team and less to him. Value for results, not potential. I think even he would agree.
Who cares. Matthews never shows up to his full potential in playoffs. Drives me nuts. I take knies any day of the week in playoffs
Morgan got 3 goals. 1 on bob, 2 on Woll which happens from time to time. Real score was 4-3 leafs if that doesn’t happen or 3-3 if jones doesn’t score on Bob so still OT.

I feel like he's filling a different role, I'm fine with Matthews play tbh. Even if we lose the series they've already proven to me we have the best team we've had in a long time. If we do manage to beat the panthers which I believe we absolutely can than we are easily a cup contending team which I haven't been able to believe for again a long time.
