The only thing the Colorado screwed over was themselves and their locker room.
ANOTHER Mikko Rantanen Hat-Trick tonight by the way.
oh, and Mikko also had a Hattrick game one second round second period Just so you know.
Rantanen is 7th overal in points per game in the playoffs with 1.3 ppg and 4th on active players just behind MacKinnon, Draisaitl and McJesus. Draisaitl is a winger and he has 1.4 ppg and his salary is 14mil, but Rantanen has a cup and Draisaitl was 1 win away
Colorado has a history of standing firm on whatever number they deem is the maximum they will pay a player.
Remember when no one for the longest time got more than $6M? Duchene and MacKinnon were ok being underpaid, but O'Reilly and Stastny left Denver because they wanted to paid market value for a 1st or 2nd line center.
Management knew they couldn't also pay Makar in a couple years from now if they paid Rantonen 12 or 13 mil per season and have any depth whatsoever which seems to me the biggest reason why Rantonen got shipped out for younger and cheaper players returning trade pieces.
The Avs should have done what McCrimmon would do and pay Rantenon now and worry about Makar's next contract when he's in the final season of his contract.
Did anyone ask Rantanen how much he was comfy with? Or was just greedy agents talking sh!t?
Mikko now with back to back hattys and been apart of the last 12 goals Dallas has scored
watch the second part of the video
This can be argued over for the next 20 yrs but let's face the facts hockey fans ;,,; colorado management let a world class player walk out the door over penny's and now the sleeping moose has woke up with his revenge tour and will carry dallas to the most coveted trophy in sports " The STANLEY CUP !!!
I'm with Mikko's revenge. Might as well bag the Canes for calling him out publicly and trying to force him to a contract mid season.
11.2 or 11.6. Either way, a 1.4 or 1.8M per year difference and you let a guy like that walk? Crazy. He signed for 12M with Dallas and I'm willing to bet if the Avs offered him 12M, he would still be there. IF true, the Avs let him go for .8 or .4M per season. Crazy.
I think a game 7 comeback in the 3rd is more impressive against the Avs than the Blues
So basically 0.4 from what he eventually got from Stars in 95.5 cap …they didn't appreciate him enough.
I think 2 teams messed up. 1st Avs for trading Moose before Deadline (that cost them cause it gave a chance for a Western Team to pick him up and haunt them) and the 2nd was Hurricanes for not signing him before they agreed on a trade
i think colorado should have consulted mackinnon and makar, leaders in the dressing room about it
Mikko scores another hat trick and he did while running double shifts on 2 lines, incredible
Hear me out Avs. Since this didn't work out as planned. Trade MacKinnon to Stars for some more depth. π
AVS organization appears to be incompetent, and they are realizing it. Trade around and find out!
